This is in my backyard. Do you have any idea of the poverty this woman probably lives in?? (Not saying that that's an excuse for smoking while pregnant, but still.) Do you have any INKLING about the economic state of many Shenandoah Valley/Southwest Virginia areas???

I didn't think about socioeconomic status when I saw the picture. I just saw a woman who doesn't care about her unborn child's health--at least, not what she can actually do to improve her child's health. The jackhammers won't be nearly as destructive as whatever heart or lung ailments her baby might face. :mad:

I also think she's dumb.

However, I think the reason BG got mad is b/c title of the thread is "Dumb Virginian." It doesn't matter what state this woman lives in, we'd all still think she was dumb b/c of her actions, but BG took issue w/ the fact that he was sort of generalizing Virginians that way.

I could be completely wrong, but I'm sure she'll feel free to correct me. :) I'd be pissed too if someone said "Dumb Floridian" or "Dumb North Carolinian" based on a picture of someone that lives here. It would have been less offensive to say "Dumb Pregnant Woman" or "Dumb Smoker" IMHO.
