Big Sis/Lil Sis Revealing Ideas
 

I'm looking for any fun ideas that your chapter uses as a way to reveal the new members' big sisters. I appreciate any and all input. Thank you! :D

Starting a new colony we got Twins. And we just had our revealing this weekend. Courtney, ELC, made nametags of famous pairs and put them on our backs. We were only allowed to ask yes and no questions to find our match. So of the pairs were: Shoes and socks, peanut butter and jelly, king and queen, wife and husband, shampoo and conditioner.

We also did that matching one, but we used cartoon characters and the Lil's had to go around and ask questions about what was on their backs to the bigs after asking like 3 bigs they went to the wall to guess who it was and if they matched they got to reveal, but if not they had to ask more questions. Another one would be the ceremony alot of our sisters liked it alot. That can be found on the resouces page of Alpha Xi Delta. Under New Memember area. Last year, all the bigs had a different color yarn, and they strung it up and around the house, outside, etc., and then they hid in different rooms. Then their littles had to go through and follow the string to find their bigs... Although that wasn't after formal recruitment, so they only had like 4 girls... It still might work though :o)

We also did the string thing one year it was so much fun! The other idea that we used was to have the littles stand in two lines in the middle of the room. the two lines had their backs to each other. each little was holding a lit candle. then the bigs and some other sisters (just to trick them) came in from a different room. They circled the girls in a single file line. they kept circling and circling and circling. the bigs revealed themselved to their littles by blowing out the flame on the candle. the girls had a really good time with this one. the littles were so anxious and the bigs and sisters passed them by so many times. some of the girls even pretended to blow out light of a little who wasn't theirs or more than one girl went in on one candle at a time. the littles really liked it.

to reveal my big they had a guess who game. all the sisters stood in a circle and we were givenm a list of questions to ask and after every question people would sit down. until the only person left s]tanding was my big it was a lot of fun. a scavenger hunt was another fun thing. the littles were given a card that had a clue on it about thier big that led them to another place that had another card with another clue until they eventually were led to their big.

Usually, we do a dress-up thing for revealing, like a big and her lil will be m&m's, I was the Big Bad Wolf (but cuter!) to my big's Little Red Riding Hood, and etc.

This year, though, they did something to the effect of the bigs stood behind a black sheet of paper (or sheets, off the big rolls) and their feet were showing. They had on really cute socks that they'd decorated to look like alligators, chocolate-chip cookies, or whatever, and thier littles had matching socks. The littles lined up so that they were standing toe-to-toe with their bigs, and then everyone tore down the paper to see who they belonged to.

we have done alot of different things. the sting thing was a blast last spring. This year we are doing a shoe matching. Where there is just a pile of shoes and the littles have to find the shoe with there name on it and than go find the sister that it matches in the house.

We normally only do a ceremony with nothing special, but we had to have two revealings this time around. The first one was an informal one where the girls popped balloons which had puzzle pieces in them, and when the puzzle was put together, it spelled "Are you ready for a candle pass?" We then had a candle pass in which the littles passed around a ceremony candle made for them by their big, and the big blew out the candle. It was a whole lot of fun and kept the girls in suspense!:p

The shoe thing was a lot of fun... I was pretty surprised when I found my big, since she was the first person I ended up looking at! I didn't have to search at all. It was pretty fun watching everyone else look for their bigs!

In my chapter we like to give like 5-8 clues and post them around the house. With the last clue we attach string that leads to a cup in which the bigs name is at the bottom. The string is tied around doors, bikes, trees, or whatever.
