Calling all GC "old-timers"!

Let me start off by saying that there is no official date/time/whatever to signify "old-timer" status. If you think you're one, you probably are one.

I have a question. Do you ever do searches on all the posts you've left? Do you read some of them and think, "whoa...I said that?"

Most of the posts start at 2001 because that was when we had that big changeover. I'd love to see my first ever posts though...that'd be neat.

So in my little trip down memory lane I was humored to see my more classic moments...the big LA trip I took with my then BF, the months where he was deployed and KillarneyRoses's reassurances that Kate Spade = temporary happiness, the awful breakup, going at it with Blaine because I initially thought he was an asshole, Blaine's accident and feeling like shit...and finally becoming an alum. When I first joined GC, GC was puke green, I don't think we even had the Private Messaging system, newbie (Carolyn) was still in high school, and AXO Alum and PenguinTrax weren't mommies yet, ;) LOL.

Many of us check & post on GC on a daily basis and up until today I didn't really realize how much we actually share with each other on a daily basis. I thought it was pretty neat.

Holla. A lot of water has passed under the bridge in the 4 years I have been here.

Random stuff happens to me and I think to myself that I need to post it in chitchat.

Although I'm not a super old timer... (I've been here almost three years) I must say that GC is like an addiction... I started posting just after I joined and now I'm alum and lots has changed, on GC and in my life, but I've met people from my school who I didn't know before and became friends with them, met people on GC that know people I met in person first... gotten good advice... learned a WHOLE lot... GC is pretty much invaluable... you know I think if all the women on GC formed a sorority and all the men formed a fraternity... they'd be the best, strongest, GLOs ever.

Been around for awhile, but have never gone back to look at my old posts except when there has been new information on a topic or to defend a point.

Perceptions and feelings change, even for we "older" alums, but I doubt I'll ever take the time to look back very far. I'd rather look forward.

I can understand looking back for the sake of nostalgia, though. I just doubt that I will.

Gamma Chi, anyone? ;) :p :D (It had to be said. OK, maybe it didn't. ;) )

I can't say I've searched and gone through all my old posts, but sometimes I'll see a thread from 2001/2002 that was bumped, and I see the symbol that indicates I posted on that thread, and I'll go back through the thread looking for my post. Makes interesting reading...

I think I am GC middle-aged. I first came on in 2001, late summer, I think, with another screen name. Changed to this one after I became an Alpha.

To be honest, I come across some of my more well-written posts and think DAMN, I said that? Cuz the further I get away from college, I think I get dumber, LOL.

lifesaver 10-03-2004 03:22 PM

I somehow just aged on GC too.

For the last 4 years my "member since" date has been June 2000. Now it says May 2000. Dosent bother me cause I had been lurking that month, and I registerd on June 1. So it was almost May.

Anyone else just get a littler older?

When I first started here, I was still a colonist. About a month away from receiving my charter.

Peaches-n-Cream 10-03-2004 07:15 PM

I guess I'm a GC old-timer. I checked out this site for a while before I signed up in Sept. 2001. Now I am a charter member of Metro DPhiE Alumnae Association. :)

cashmoney 10-03-2004 07:19 PM

I think you had to be here for the Vs to be old skool.

ZTAngel 10-03-2004 08:04 PM

I'm old school GC. I've been here since October 2000 which was around the heyday of a certain mother/daughter team. ;)
