Greek Letters = Gang?
I just found this out about my old high school from my neice (8 grader). See, she loves to wear my letter shirts around and everything to school...makes her feel "cool" and all, heh. Well, apparently now the school has passed some new rule that if some kids wear the same shirt/color or have a shirt that denotes a "group" outside of the school they have to leave school that day and change.
I think this is bullcrap! Please note this is school is basically a rural school....hardly ever trouble at all. Oh, I know the subject of letter-wearing by nonmembers is a controversial topic on here, and I ask that no one go off on a rant about it. *thanks* Thoughts? |
This probably wouldn't be an issue for most national orgs (IFC, NPC, NPHC) because they don't allow non-members to wear shirts w/ letters on them. Or, rather, they don't allow members to pass lettered shirts on to their kid brother/sister/nephew/niece!

still happens though.. HQ's can't guarentee that a member will not give their relative a shirt. i had quite a few from my sister that i would wear occasionally. |
Can they wear an NFL shirt?

You know, I suspected that something was up when we had to do a drive-by during initiation.
HAHAKIDDING! |
I got some grief at my work over wearing my letters. The head honcho didn't know what my letters stood for so he requested that I refrain from wearing my stuff. I told him that they were my sorority letters & even showed him the website & proved that the letters were from an NPC sorority. Now I wear them with no hassle & have even found that some of my coworkers were in the Greek system as well. I have thus far found AGD, DG, KKG, & SK at my work. There is also an SAE and a ZBT from UCLA there!

haha, imagine the looks I would get with the letters I'm wearing now! I've got skull and crossbone letters over a red background on a black shirt. It's my favorite set of letters! My sisters jokingly want to make these our "family" letters. teehee.

Basically, do the dress code the school says.
That is why Schools in some districts have gone to uniform types of clothing. Good for them. Keeps any type of gang crap out, down and gone. Since when do under adult age kids dictate to schools? Heck, there are to many coming out of school that cannot read or write. Our future leaders? |
