Big Sis Pick Up ideas
 

Hi ladies,

My chater is looking to change our Big Sis revealing method and I need some ideas. We usually try to do a whole evening of activities so it's more fun for the girls. If your chapter has a creative and fun way of revealing the big sis to the little sis, please let me know! Thanks!

Sorry to crash the board, but I really liked the way our chapter did it last go around...I'll try to explain it clearly...

We hung a sheet in our chapter room from the ceiling (biiiig sheet) 3/4ths of the room was blocked off. There was about a foot showing between the bottom of the sheet and the floor though, so you could see the feet of who ever was on the other side.

When the New Member's arrived, they were brought into the parlor by the New Member educator. In the parlor, the bigs had left a small basket of items...one item was SOCKS!! The New Members had to put on their socks!

Meanwhile, the bigs...and the rest of the chapter are on the large side of the chapter room wearing a matching pair of socks. The New Members are brought behind the curtain. The sisters are infront of the crutain and in a big circle! Then music starts and the sisters start walking in a circle...when they are close to the curtain, they are dancing and being silly with their feet (which the New Members can see!!). When a new member sees her matching socks - she runs out from behind the curtain to find out who her big is! The bigs have flowers and presents for the little when she gets there.

It's really cute and the girls have so much fun with it. We then do like a girls night with ice cream and Sex and the City or a girl movie.

We left clues for a week before hand and met at the house one night. All the little sisters were put upstairs to change into a costume left by their big sis. They were given a series of clues that lead them all around the house and outside until eventually they found their big sis at the end of the line. The big sis was also dressed up (we were thelma & louise one year) w/ a basket full of treats for the the little sis. Everybody got flowers too which were put in a vase in the house to stay all week.

We would have three days of clues and gifts before revealing. On the reveal night, we would tie one end of yarn to a small stuffed animal, and put the lil's name on the stuffed animal in the front of the living room. We would then take the entire roll of yarn and wind it around all the furniture, in and out of the other yarn, etc. creating a huge maze. The big would hold the end of the yarn that wasn't tied to the stuffed animal. The lils would go into the living room, find their stuffed animal, then follow the yarn all over the living room until (sometimes after a very long time) they would find their big at the other end of the yarn. We had pledge classes of 50+, so all that yarn and all those lils following it created a huge mass of confusion - it was a ton of fun! The excitement was spread throughout the evening, as some bigs used longer yarn than others.
