Star Wars on DVD
They rock. You should go watch them.
|
Will do.
|
Got it a few days ago. Haven't had time to watch it.
|
Just got it tonight!
|
Got mine on Tues-- Best Buy was price matching Fryes so they were only $36 ($10 less than what was advertised). Watched the 'special features' tonight but haven't watched the movies yet (working night shift this week). The 4th DVD with the documentary features is worth it alone so I can't wait to actually watch the movies.

I'm a HUGE fan of Star Wars BUT I do not dress in the costumes to watch them, I do not make lightsaber noises, I do not live in my mothers basement, & finally, I'm not a virgin!:D

Pre-ordered it for my boyfriend for our anniversary....he was very happy :D
|
These are the special edition ones, right? I know George Lucas liked them better (that shmuck), but is he gonna release the originals on DVD as well?
|
I got them yesterday afternoon before all the sales ended. I got them for $42 at Best Buy. I saw the price matching post two days too late though. Frys had it for $38 up until Thursday. Oops. Oh well. Haven't had time to watch them, but looking forward to it. Maybe I can throw a marathon party or something. :)

Yes this are the special edition ones. He also "touched" them up. For example, you will notice a HUGE difference at the end of Return of the Jedi when Luke looks over to see the "ghosts" (don't wanna share what Lucas did on the board, just in case not everyone knows what he did (I read it in the newspaper) or hasn't had a chance to watch yet).
I HIGHLY recommend the special feature on the fourth disc, The Return of Darth Vader. It is AWESOME!!!! It seriously makes me wish May was here and eppy three was out. I'm such a dork, I'm so excited ;) |
cool, thanks for confirming that rumor. Eh, call me old fashioned, but the originals were perfect the way they are. Not to bash the new episodes, but I think something in the quality of these films was lost when Lucas decided to add some slapstick to reach a younger audience. I hope they decide to make an original DVD set. I'm sure this is going to happen eventually (when the profits subside from the special edition release of course :)
In any case, I'd still love to get those DVDs, this film should of been the first thing released when the DVD player was invented - can't wait for May either:) RUgreek |
I think we should all be jumping for joy that they were released now.
I remember at one point Lucas said that he wasn't going to release the original trilogy to DVD until ALL THREE prequels were out and on DVD themselves. I found that logic quite, um, annoying. I personally think he was brilliant for releasing them when he did. Getting people revved up for Revenge of the Sith. Although on the other hand he still would have gotten people excited had he released the DVD set sometime early next year. Anyways, just my tired mind rambling :) For those who have seen Return of the Jedi on the new DVD set, what did you think of the "change" Lucas made? If you don't feel comfortable discussing it on this board (for fear of ruining it for someone else, although like I mentioned early I found out about three weeks ago courtesy of The Arizona Republic. LOL) give me a PM I would love to hear what other fans think about it. |

Also, the preview of Return of Darth Vadar had Lucas talk about how much fun it was to make because the story is dark. That, combined with the de-cheesification of Return of the Jedi has me very encouraged. I think that Lucas will get the next one right. |

And yes... the change kind of threw me for a curve ball. Thanks for the warning ya'll. I knew what to look for but still didn't quite expect it. |
