AND,for the first time in the 150 years that the school has been in existence, we have a Black King AND Queen together!

We done did it again, ya'll!!

Florida State's Homecoming is alsos this weekened. Our 2000 Chief and Princess were also both African American. And our 2000 Princess is your soror, Miss Rennai Palmer of the Kappa Epsilon Chapter. Way to go Rennai. What a feit at a predominately white university.

Peace

I'm curious, arethe Homecoming Queens at those schools students?

At my alma mater and I wonder if it's this way at all HBCU's, the Homecoming Queen is always an alumna because the idea of homecoming is for the alumni to come back home (to campus).

Can anyone shed some light on this for me?

Director, the Homecoming Queen ( or Princess as we call it in keeping with the Seminole Indian tradition) is a student. Basically our Alumni Association sponsers it. Students apply to run. They have very high standards. Usually these students are affiliated with a GLO or in some organization on campus that's of a high profile. The student body here at FSU, which is about 33,000-35,000 votes for the Princess. At our annual Homecoming Pow-wow the Chief and Princess are announced. Also this year at State, they made a big stride toward diversification among GLO's and BGLO's. Alot of the Greeks were paired up. At Skit Night, I believe the team of FIJI, Pi Beta Phi, and DST won skit night. In the past two weeks, DST on the campus has been everywhere. They won are Greek Extrav the week before. They also performed their award winning routine at our Pow Wow. You would be proud the way your sorors represent on the campus of FSU.

HELLO LADIES...

AT MY ALMA MATERS, BOTH HBCUs...

the "Homecoming Queen, if you will, is the MISS XYZ UNIVERSITY and her court...Miss Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior. She and her court are current students at that time. The are generally escorted by they SGA (student government association) members.

Director,

The Homecoming Royalty are students, but there is always a parade marshall selected, and that person is an alum who is distinguished in his/her field. Hope this helps!

At my school, "the Homecoming Queen" if you will is Miss Alabama State University, and her court are the two women who came in 2nd and 3rd place when they held a pageant the previous year.

It's interesting to read about the different traditions. As I stated before, the Homecoming Queen is always an alumna.

Now the school queen, of course is a student and her court is made up of the class queens. The campus queen is presented at half time during the homecoming game and is given a ceremony (used to be coronation and ball) during homecoming week.

Now, when I taught high school, there was a campus queen and a miss homecoming. The campus queen was not given much attention during homecoming.

Thanks for your feedback.

Sorry I've taken so long to respond. Northwestern is about 20 minutes outside of Chicago in Evanston, IL. Director, Soror Williams is not an athlete. I know that back in the day (like high school) she used to cheerlead though. DiSTinguished---you are welcome to visit us when you come to town. Just let me know. My email is on my profile.

trinity.
