Candace Bergen - actress, "Murphy Brown" & "Sweet Home Alabama" - It is unclear whether Ms. Bergen was ever officially initiated, if she was, I believe she has since formally resigned membership.
Mrs. Campell - Wife of the owner of Campbell's Soup (Ever wonder why the fleur-de-lis is on the can?) - Unfortunately, a myth. I have researched high and low on this one. |
I'd wondered about Candace Bergen too, and someone *wink* told me that she's in the 1987 directory. I checked, and she's listed there with a Beverly Hills 90210 address.
As is Katy Brosnahan, who was then an assistant fashion editor for Glamour. :) I saw a chapter website the other day (honestly can't remember which one) that listed Kristen Davis as a Kappa. Umm... no... she played a character who was a Kappa. |

Oh! And you can add Sophia Bush (U So. Cal) -- actress from One Tree Hill and Annabeth Gish (Duke) -- actress to that list. I think I also heard Mariska Hargitay, but I haven't been able to confirm that. Anyone who can?? I wonder if Ashley Judd and Annabeth Gish ever talked Kappa while they were filming Double Jeopardy. ;) |
Ashley Judd

I remember reading in The Key that Mariska Hargitay, Loni Anderson's daughter Deirdre, and James Sikking's daughter Emily (he played on "Hill Street Blues") are Kappas. I am trying to find the issue(s) where I read that and will report back if I find the info. I remember reading that Loni Anderson and Burt Reynolds would go to parents-weekend-type events.

Still looking, but I came across a couple more:
Gena Rowlands, actress Judy Crowell from QVC |
I FOUND IT!!!
In the Spring 1984 issue on p. 45, this is what is written: "Loni Anderson's daughter Deidra has pledged Kappa at the University of California at Los Angeles. Already a member of Gamma Xi Chapter at UCLA is Mariska Hargitay, daughter of the late Jayne Mansfield and Mickey Hargitay." In the Fall 1984 issue on p. 45, Candice Bergen is profiled in "Names in the News." She left college at the end of her soph. year, but she was definitely initiated. I did hear on GC though that she had resigned recently. |

Hey Kappas--
I accidentally came across the GC website when Googling something else--oh what a black hole for time this could be! I know this is an old thread, but I have a fun new addition for you sisters that love Kappa trivia. Any HGTV fans out there? Constance Ramos (host of Color Correction and previously on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition) is a Kappa!! Connie pledged at Texas Christian University and then transferred to Kansas State (Gamma Alpha) where she affiliated with us as a sophomore. She finished her Bachelor of Architecture degree there. I turned on the TV one day, and there she was!! My kids wouldn't believe that I knew her till I dug out the old party pics and yearbook! |
Helen Wills Moody Roarke is a Kappa. She won Wimbledon and is generally considered to have been one of the greatest female tennis players of all time. She won 31 Grand Slam titles (singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles) during her career, including seven singles titles at the U.S. Championships, eight singles titles at Wimbledon, and four singles titles at the French Championships.
