I hate Ritual Whites
 

So its been awhile since I was in school, but I was thinking about this. If you pledge during the spring, usually like January, you cannot find a white dress to save your life. I remember that I bought the one white dress that I could find in the entire mall. It was so ugly and unflattering. So no one really wears white, and everyone ends up just getting "something" to make it through pledging. Well, when I came through Rush, we were the only sorority that still wore White during the pref party. We changed that soon after. Now they wear black. Much more flattering.

yep, when I pledged. I found the only white dress I could find. I ended up eventually buying another white dress I liked more. We wear black on pref. too., Black is no problem for me, since its so easy find something. But trying to find a white dress that is appropriate and not totally see thru is hard!!

you can buy cute white dresses on ebay year round. There is also a Simplicity pattern that makes a really cute dress for like a years and a half of material and it is sooooo easy to sew-you don't even have to have a mchine. Several girls from my chapter went at one time and bought the same white flowy night gown. It actually looked like a dress and was way cuter than say-a shite skirt and t-shirt.

I do remember that in our "house" we had a closet full of cast off whites that girls just left to sorority when they left. I know that's where mine ended up. That way a new member could just borrow an old one until she could find a nice one.

That is why I say anyone who is even THINKING about rushing should have a white dress and get it in the summer. Ya can get some nice white dresses in the Newport News catalog for cheap

Cause trying to find a white dress for a fall initiation---unless you can sew (or beg someone to sew for you)...FORGET IT!

hahaha we totally had a 'ghetto whites' closet too! It was filled with the more 'special' dresses sisters have come across. I think some of those dresses have seen almost every single initation we've had (we just turned 5)

agree i hate the whites too but i deal with the uglies i got my frehsmen year .... :eek:
