Longest Relationship?
List your 3 longest relationships, when they occurred, and why they ended.
1 year, 10 months: Fall of sophomore year until summer before senior year. Ended after major problems. 1 year, 1 month: Summer before my senior year of HS until summer before my freshman year at W&L. We broke up for college. 8 months: January of my freshman year until summer before sophomore year. Ended because he didn't want a relationship. |
2 years, 1 month -- senior year in college; ended because he became a monster after 9/11 and we grew apart
1 year, 6 months -- senior year HS/first year of college, he was abusive, 'nuff said. 9 months -- sophomore year in HS, I dumped him because someone better eventually came along |
1 year, 6months (give or take 2), frosh/soph year of college, I thought we were too serious. his family started bugging me out
umm, that was the only real realtionship. everyone else wasn't around long enough for me to define. most of my others lasted about 3 months. or less. there is the "talk" boy...highlighted the other thread. possibly 3 months? maybe 9 months? eh. |
4 1/2 years (college boyfriend, I started seeing him more like a brother and not like a boyfriend/luva/future husband).
Year and a half (we had nothing in common really looking back, he wanted me to convert to be a Jew a month into the relationship, and I am not religious at all and he was extremely controlling. He also is one of those people who always thinks he is right, only sees things in black or white and only talked about 4 topics: Law school, hiking, when he was in the navy and law school........) |
Six long years
|
Two years, on and off but mostly on. Junior year of high school through freshman year of college. Ended because neither of us really wanted to do the long distance thing, we got bored of each other and the spark just wasn't there anymore.
One year -- freshman-sophomore year of high school. Ended because we were really young and didn't know what the hell we were doing. ;) He's still one of my best friends, though. One year -- sophomore-junior year of college. Ended because I was severely depressed and we were going to take some time off so I could deal with my issues, and then he ended up hooking up with another girl two days after the start of our "break," dating her three weeks after, and sleeping with her less than a month after. He broke up with her as soon as he realized that by "taking a break" I had actually meant "take a break" and not "break up" (apparently he is either a huge idiot or I am a horrible communicator, but I am leaning towards the former), and though he spent the next few weeks insisting that I was The One and that she would never compare to me, it kind of made a reconciliation unlikely. ;) |
Serious relationships:
1 year (coming up this weekend!) - We met last year in Feb and started dating in September. 10 months - my first year of college. A guy I knew in high school that graduated with my older brother. He took me to my senior prom and we started dating a couple months later. It ended because he started to get possessive and I couldn't (and didn't) want to deal with it. Non-Serious relationships: 3 years - A guy I met working at a restaurant. We met at the end of the above mentioned 10 month relationship and dated on and off throughout college. Definately still someone I think about and wonder what could've been, but also happy with my man now! |
1. 9 1/2 years. It ended because he changed a lot after we got married, not for the better.
2. 5 years. He became abusive after we got married. 3. 1 1/2 years. He wanted to play the field while in college. Dee |
Are we talking *pre* marriage relationships??
OTHERWISE As of now...a lifetime in measure...it seems as though there have been none before he came into my life.... :) It will end when one of us buries the other...and maybe not even then :) |
8 months, freshman year of HS- ended because he was much older than me and we definitely weren't on the same page
6 months, summer after freshman and beginning of sophomore year of HS- ended because I didn't want to be tied down to one person 1 year, 2nd semester sophomore and 1st semester junior years of HS- ended because he had some issues with his family and wasn't able to deal with it and me at the same time 3 years, 7 months, started 2nd semester junior year of HS and is still going. |
Two years of on and off but mostly on - freshmen/soph years of HS, we just wanted different things at that point
One year - senior year of HS, he cheated on me and we were going to different colleges Two years - freshmen/soph years of college |
~ 3 YEARS: Well, I had a best friend in high school, and me and him were pretty close to one another. We would go on random dates for 3 years.
~ 3 MONTHS: His family, especially his mom, freaked me out. He and his mom had this freakish relationship. It's just too hard to explain. The only thing I can really understand from it and only care to understand is his mom was completely obsessed with him. It was weird! He was an only child and adopted (don't get me wrong, there are only children and adoptees that have normal relationships with their parents and turned out completely normal but he didn't). She couldn't have kids and there you go. That was the situation. This son/mother relationship was one of those things that made you go "bluhhhh!" He also was freakishly religious. At the time, I was wanting to be a VH1 VJ, and he said he just couldn't be with someone that promoted such blatant sexuality and promiscuity by wanting that career. To him, VH1 is not as blatant about sex and sexuality as MTV, etc. but it was still there and, since sex was so evil, he couldn't be with or possibly ever be married to a VH1 VJ. He also didn't want to move to NYC b/c he couldn't be away from his dear old mommy. |
Longest
13 years, 4 months, 13 days and counting.... This is, of course, Mr. KillarneyRose. He's unbelievably awesome, and deserves a medal for putting up with me for so long :) 2nd Longest 5 1/2 years. This is College Boyfriend guy. Although having him didn't interfere too terribly much with my dating activities, I still wish I hadn't stayed with him during college. We went to school 450 miles apart most of the time, which I'm convinced is the reason we stayed together as long as we did. Once we were both living in the same city, it lasted less than a year. 3rd Longest 2 1/2 months. Penguin Guy. Freshman year in college. He traveled a lot and I was most interested in hanging out with my sisters. Between those two things, the relationship piddled out quickly. |
6 years - began summer before junior year of HS and the September after I graduated from college. In college we were off and on but mostly on. There were several issues that caused problems throughout the relationship but in the end I was had graduated and was ready to grow up a bit and he was going to be a super Senior and felt he needed to live it up. I don't really wonder what could have been, but I know he does.
11 months - beginning of freshman year of HS until summer before sophomore year. We weren't on the same page - we had different friends, he smoked a lot of weed and I didn't smoke. 8 months - just ended last month. We had some differences and he wasn't really ready for a relationship. |
3 years, 7 months and counting with my TKE. :D
Besides that: 13 months, sophomore year of high school, with a guy 1 1/2 years older than me. He was pissed that I wouldn't give it up, so he broke up with me for a 15 year old that cheated on him. Hah. |
