SISTER SECRETS

I have just started reading a "Sister Secrets" by Breggie James. Has anyone already read this novel? If so did you enjoy it? So far so good.

Sister Secrets is WONDERFUL!!! A few words of advice: take notes, especially if you plan on reading the sequel Beyond Our Mothers' Footsteps

i've read sisters secrets and i must admit...i was confused at certain points in the book. i thought the book switched scenes to much. it left the reader guessing to much.

I read the book, and I must say that there were entirely too many characters. At one point I had to reread some chapters just to remember whom was pledging what sorority. I think the book could have been better if there wasn't so many characters interwoven into the plot, and there weren't so many soap-opera-like turns.
Let me know how you feel about the book when you finish.

SISTER SECRETS as well as BEYOND OUR MOTHER'S FOOTSTEPS are both wonderful books. They are long, have a lot of characters but it is such a deep plot filled with secrets and mystery. This was a book that will stand out in your mind for a long time to come. I read Sister Secrets Christmas Day, it was a Christmas present adn I stayed on the couch all day reading that book.

I began the sequel last night and had to go back and skim Sister Secrets but it was worth it. This was not one of those plots that you "Alredy knew how it would end".

I loved this book and commend the author for writing a book that was so complicated because it made me focus and would not let me put it down!!!

The test of a good book for me is the complication of the plot and my inability to put the book down. Don't give up but take notes on mama/daughter relationships.

I LIKE TO SUPPORT BLACK AUTHORS. CAN SOMEONE WHO'S READ THE BOOK GIVE ME A BRIEF SYNOPSIS WITHOUT GIVING TOO MUCH AWAY? THEN MAYBE I'D GO AND BUY IT.

Without giving too much away, you can always go to http://www.amazon.com and type in any title and read their summary.

I am an avid reader, especially of Black Authors, and this book sticks with me. It talks about both fraternity and sorority life and family issues and family secrets.

What are some types of books that you enjoy? If you want, you can e-mail me at dst_1_4_me@yahoo.com and we can talk further.

I READ THE BOOK IT IS EXCELLENT---BREGGIE JAMES PULLED OUT ALOT OF GREEK STEREOTYPES THAT ARE TYPICAL ON COLLEGE CAMPUSES AND PUT THEM ALL INTO HER BOOK----ALSO THE BEEF BETWEEN SORORITIES AND "BABIES MAMAS" AND "BABIES DADDIES" DEFINITELY ADDS DRAMA TO THE BOOK----

I agree but I would add that it also reflects on lifelong friendships that span decades. You truly see these things in the sequel and learn so much more about the older sorors in the sequel as well. It amazed me how many of the daughters lived lives similar to their moms.

This is a must read.

WOW! I did not know sooo many of my sorors read this wonderful book! I just finished it last week and I look forward to reading the sequel. By the way, thanks for letting a sister know that there is, indeed, a sequel. I'm going to pick it up this week. There were a lot of characters, but there connection was so incredible and deep. In the beginning it was a little confusing because of the constant switching back and forth, but as the story progressed things began to fall into place.

Would anyone happen to know if Breggie James is greek?? If so, what organization??

I READ IN A MAGAZINE THAT BREGGIE JAMES IS AN AKA---SHE DID A MAGAZINE INTERVIEW AND SAID IT---ANOTHER MUST READ IS TIAJUANA BUTLER'S SORORITY SISTERS---IF YOU LIKE SISTER SECRETS YOU WILL LIKE THIS ONE TOO--

CrimsonTide4 07-03-2000 06:52 AM

I liked both Sister Secrets as well as Sorority Sisters but Sister Secrets has so much mystery and tense moments. It goes beyond pledging a sorority and deals with family secrets and mysteries that span generations.
