Unfit for Command

I know there has been a lot of discussion about the fallout (or potential fallout) from this book, but has anyone on here read it? A friend of mine is supposed to give me his copy, so I'll probably be checking it out in the next couple of weeks.

Thoughts, feelings, etc. after reading it?

moe.ron 09-09-2004 09:39 AM

What is it about?

DeltAlum 09-09-2004 09:46 AM

I think it's about President Bush's military experience.

OH, JUST KIDDING.

It's about Kerry and his military experience.

No, I haven't read it, but I think it was published by "Swift Boats Publishing Cooperative," a not-for-profit company funded by a political party.

moe.ron 09-09-2004 09:53 AM

The Swift Boaties are still around?

Do you think any undecided voters are actually going to buy this book?

Not likely. I think the audience for these books that at least appear to be politically motivated will be the people who have already made up their minds on a topic and are looking for something to affirm their beliefs.

Or just out of curiosity (the reason I'm reading it). With so much talk about the book, I thought it would be interesting to see what all the hype was about.

I think educated people would realize the book is Republican propaganda just like Farenheit 9/11 is for the Democrats. All those books that came out about Bush's real motive for war by former aids sold well but didn't effect the polls that much

Real motive for the war? Such a misleading statement.

Maybe. I think that the books get enough publicity on cable news shows to reach a diverse audience. It's unfortunately in my opinion how these Cable News shows help people hype crap books and movies treating them like news.

Don't you remember when all that came out. The big thing was about "the real motive for war". The white house tried to discredit the people who wrote the books and what was said in them.

I remember the books by people like Clark but hey they wanted their book deals and were trying to sell their story of the Iraq war, the war that Kerry supports no matter the intention I might add. I'm just not appreciating the use of "real" in there.
