Krakow to Name Square After Ronald Reagan
The southern Polish city of Krakow decided Wednesday to name a square after former President Ronald Reagan in recognition of his role in ending communist rule.
Krakow councilors voted 19-17 to give the name "Ronald Reagan Square" to the main square in Nowa Huta, a communist-era development built around a major steel plant. Currently called Central Square, it was the scene of numerous protests by workers in communist times. The rest of the story is here: http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._reagan_square |
Some countries in Europe still appreciate the USA's role in their freedom.
I don't know about Poland naming this for Reagan. I appreciate the gesture though. There were so many brave Polish that died fighting for freedom. I guess that's where those 17 nay votes came from. |
