sorority round robin
Hey All! Last night our school had a Round Robin. Since our school is very small, and only has 3 sororities [only 1 national], each sorority "sets up" in a room in our student center. All interested gals go and check out what each sorority has to offer.
I went to RR, determined to keep my mind open to all of the chapters. Something happened though - when I went to visit one of the 3, I felt very uncomfortable. They gossiped, swore, yelled out, wouldn't stop talking, and ripped on people and places [not greek affiliated things or people]. Now I don't know if I want to go to any of this sorority's rush events. Am I being unfair? Has any of this happened to any other rushee?   |
Hi. If you feel uncomfortable I wouldn't go to any other events. I would still check out the other 2 to see what they have to offer. Do you know anyone in the org that made you feel uncomfortable that you could talk to about your concerns?

I agree with winneythepooh. If you didn't feel comfortable at that sorority you probably would not benefit from going to any of their other events. While Recruitment parties are short and sometimes can be a blur, I think that if you really don't fit in somewhere you will know and it sounds like you have figured that out with one of the orgs. Don't give up on the other two though!

You know I re-read this thread and it kinda reminds me of a lot of what I heard during rush back in the day. Girls used to come and tell us how XYZ sorority was always bitchy to them in the bar or wherever but when it came time for rush and getting numbers they would invite them to all their stuff. If people are catty and lack class like that at rush I hate to imagine how they will treat their incoming members.

do what you feel you have to do...but don't forget the other two. they might be a perfect fit.
