Say What 3: Wind From Hurricane Frances for Sale on Ebay

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._merchandise_5

excerpt: The starting bid for Tupperware filled with wind was a penny. Photos showed Broward County residents running around with the containers "catching" the wind. Surprisingly, someone had already bid $10 for one of the four containers.

Somebody had bid $6.99 for beach sand a Broward County surfer had collected. Three Frances survivors had bid 15 cents each to have a woman pray for them.

One-cent vials of rain that fell in Orlando as the storm passed over had no bids. Neither did a woman's offer to sell the T-shirt she wore during the storm, nor did the request by a Longwood resident for someone to help get a large oak tree off of the seller's home and car.

"Winning bidder will receive branches, leaves, sticks, stumps, whatever you would like!" ... What a conversation piece! ... You can own a part of meteoroligical (sic) history!"

LOL

When I read the article I laughed so hard, I could not believe that the article was real. People really would not go around selling wind. LOL, for the folks that buy "Hurricane Frances wind"... I have a wonderful charity that I would love for you to invest in.... It's the send NuQueen to Law School fund... Otherwise, there is a lovely bridge in Brooklyn, you would absolutely adore. The asking price is 1 million dollars (in Dr. Evil's voice).

That article is pure comedy; although, sad considering the circumstances.

If folks must sell something, it would make more sense to sell "I survived Hurricane Frances" t shirts. Now, that I would think of purchasing especially considering I survived Hurricane Frances by the grace of God.

You know, if folks are going to throw money away, let 'em throw some of it my way! Jeez! :D

Teen mother questioned about newborn found in trunk
01:27 PM CDT on Tuesday, September 7, 2004

By Amy Tortolani / 11 News

HOUSTON --- Houston police are investigating the death of a newborn.

11 News has learned a woman discovered what has turned out be her grandson in the trunk of her car parked in the 6400 block of Foster near Cosby. But police say they don't think she is the one who put the baby there.

Police were called to the southeast Houston home around 11 p.m. Monday after the grandmother drove the car and found the newborn baby boy dead in the trunk.

The baby appeared to be less than 24-hours old.

The baby's mother, 18-year-old Raquel Green, is at Ben Taub Hospital and is being questioned by police.

Her family says they knew nothing of Green's pregnancy and dismissed notions that Green may have had something to do with the baby's death.

"No, she knows the Bible, she goes to church," said Green's great-grandmother Charles Etta Williams. "No, no, no, it's not in her heart. It's not there. Murder is not there. Murder is not in her heart."

Green, who also has an older son, is reportedly being treated for complications from the child's birth.

Police tell 11 News an autospy will be performed to determine how the baby died. So far, no charges have been filed.

Did the baby walk to the truck, jump in, and decide to commit suicide?

There are MILLIONS of people in the world that want kids and can't have them, while these trifling so-and-sos can have HUNDREDS of babies and kill them like it's nothing!!!

completely co-sign

I'm mad that the great-grandmother is just so sure that the mother didn't do it. Anyone with the first bit of sense knows that biblical knowledge and/or church attendance does not guarantee a pure heart. BTW, if the girl really didn't have anything to do with it, then she surely knows who is responsible - which makes her an accessory.

I wish there were more states that allowed unwilling mothers to drop their babies off at hospitals with no questions under the "Safe Haven" Law. There are some kinks to be worked out, but this is a better solution than finding dead newborns in cars.

What in the world? And what about that grandmother so sure that her grand-daughter is the innocent one? How messy is that?!!! Everybody that goes to church ain't (yes, ain't) pure in heart. I co-sign with jojapeach. That is just out of this world.

I completely co-sign here. This is just the kind of crap that makes me so frickin angry!!! Here I am, still trying to get over the loss of my pregnancy and trying to have another baby when there are girls like this chick who just so callously puts her child in the trunk!!! And she'll probably be pregnant again in about 6mos-1yr. Wonder what she'll do with THAT baby??   If you don't want your baby, give it to me!! Hubby and I will appreciate it!! What is with these girls?? I realize that not all states have the safe haven laws but you can still take your baby to social services if you don't want it. There's just no need to kill babies like this, not when there are so many people who want one.

We have that law here in Houston. She told her mother she had a miscarriage. Then there was something about she was still depressed because the baby's father had died recently. She really needs help. :(

The biggest problem with the Safe Heaven laws is that the people who put babies in trunks don't know about them. They just aren't publicized to the RIGHT people. Those of us who are on these boards are, for the most part, college educated, internet literate, social conscious [sp? I'm lost w/o my spell checker!] people.

The women who get pregnant and don't "realize" it until they give birth, or those who carry babies to term and abandon them just aren't always aware that they have other options.

AND, IF the mom had been going to church and studying the bible, she would know that Moses's mom gave him up........

Can I get a witttt-nnnesssssss??????? :D

But seriously..... This is one of those issues that just bothers me, b/c I've known women on both sides, with wanted and "surprise" babies. Without laws protecting our reproductive rights, lots of us would be barefoot and pregnant right now. Given that there are so many ways to avoid prenancies on the front end, it blows my mind how many people end up in these situations. It also bugs me that the family is defending the mom. It's never ok to put a baby in a trunk...PERIOD. This reminds of the parents who think their kid can do no wrong, and attack referees b/c they don't like the call against their kid at a sporting event.
