chapter events!
What kinds of things is your chapter doing this semester/year? I just love to hear about chapter happenings...the "college comment" section is my favorite part of Pan Pipes! :D
I'll start! Epsilon Gamma at Arkansas State University: --during band camp, we had a pizza/movie night with Phi Mu Alpha and invited everyone in band. We had a pretty good turnout. --we're hosting our annual Major Minor Mingle in September 16. This is where we invite all the girls from the music department and have lots of food and tell them about SAI. It's always been a big hit. Hope it will be this year too! --September 24-25, we're doing a bonfire/campout at a sisters' house (she has a huuuuuuge field plus several acres of woods). --Official Visit is October 29-30. --we're hosting Province Days on November 19-20!!! :D :D :D --we're doing a Christmas Cookie Decorating Party in December. We did this last year with Phi Mu Alpha and invited anyone who wanted to come. Lots of people came, and it was just a blast. --we're also in the process of planning two service projects. The first one will be a fundraiser to raise money for a girl who wants to attend the Interlochen summer camp but can't afford it. The second one will help our music department. In the upstairs area of the choir room there is a room where all the costumes and wigs for our OPera Production group are kept. Our advisor is in charge of opera here, so this will help her as well. The place...it needs a lot of TLC. There are costumes and expensive wigs just thrown around haphazardly by students who don't care, and costumes that need mending and cleaning...and there is not enough space for all the things, so we're looking into purchasing a clothes bar to put in the room. During spring there'll be quite a bit, including our formal w/ Phi Mu Alpha, but nothing has been really planned as of yet. Let's discuss! :D |
we're so small!
We've only got about 7 actives, so it's pretty hard for us to have lots of events. Plus, we're at a women's college on a completely non-greek campus. However, we've got a great big MIT class - well, about 7 which is pretty big considering that's our numbers! And that's what we're really focusing on.
BUT, this semester I really am looking to form alliances with other chapters, starting with Iota Zeta (UGA) cause they're so huge, so that we can have more events and meet more sisters!! And some girls in my MIT class had this GREAT idea for a fundraiser that I have to share! It wouldn't go over very well on our campus, but we're hoping to do it with another chapter -- anyway we are thinking we would get all the sisters to make a picnic basket filled with different themed goodies. Then we'll auction the basket and the winner of the auction gets to go on a picnic with the girl who put the basket together!! Yea, it's pretty "Oklahoma" but we thought it was so cute! -Gwen Gamma Eta |
