dating older men/women

Would you ever date anyone who was 10 years older than you, if you were say 23?

twhrider13 09-05-2004 05:29 PM

I'm 20, and my currently off-again boyfriend is 30. At the moment, we're seeing other people, but our ages have nothing to do with the fact that if we spend too much time together, we drive each other nuts!

I would reframe your question and ask you:

If this person could possibly be the true love of your life, would her/his age difference be enough for you not to want to experience that?

My parents are 7 years apart and have been married for 29 years. So yeah, it could work.

No

Yes, I would. And I did, for a year and a half. My ex-boyfriend is 32 and I am 23. There were some issues with age, but most were tied to my I'm-graduating-from-college-and-I-don't-know-what-I-am-doing-with-my-life crisis. He was a year behind me, but had come back to school to get a higher paying job and got a consulting offer so he didn't really ever go through the same thing.

No. N-O. Never.

valkyrie 09-15-2004 05:54 PM

I don't think I'd ever dig a guy who is 10 years older than I am. Now, 10 years younger would be another story... ;)

My boyfriend's older. I'm happy so it's all good.

My Parents were 9 years apart and they were married for 40 years before my Father passed away.

As for me, I had dated a couple of women that were younger than me. I'm still friends with both of them to this day.

kddani 09-15-2004 11:47 PM

mr. kddani is 34 (i'm 24). He doesn't look much older than about 27 or so... he's gotten carded when we've been out.

I honestly think it depends on the age and maturity level of the younger person. 2 years ago I don't think I could've dated a 32 year old. But a lot has changed since then. I've also always been sorta mature for my age, so it makes the age difference seem smaller. That, and he doesn't act old.

I would have an issue if he made it like oh, i'm 34, therefore I know so much better than you on everything, etc. We have a pretty equal relationship and both talk to each other pretty equally.

I must admit to be skittish at first about the age difference, but it's a case by case basis. For this one, for me, it's not an issue.
