So... Why did I fly to Florida???

So here I am, rain pounding on the roof.... hurricane shutters are in place... water and rations ready... we've secured my grandad's condo... everyone's sitting pretty (drove around for 30 minutes tonight looking for a restaurant that was OPEN... everything is boarded up! Creepy).

Ummm, so I flew in just in time... Ft Laud Airport closes tomorrow morning at 10 AM.

Well, at least I'm with my parents.

No offense, but isn't it some other state's turn to get pummeled by these forces of nature?

A new thread.... there's a hurricane 'a-comin'.... what are you doing RIGHT now???

I survived two hurricanes in my lifetime, but that was in a span of over ten years. I can't imagine what the people of Florida are going through.

Stay dry and covered, adpiucf and everyone else in Florida.

Texas is way overdue for a major hurricane. I dotn think were adequately prepared here. Having been so long.

THe last serious one we had was Allen in 1980. It blew in between Corpus and Brownsville in one of the most least-populated areas of the state.

Of course we did take one on the chin in 1900 with the Galveston Storm.

At least in Florida you don't get nor'easters that make travel all but impossible for days on end... so wait a few months and it will be my turn! :(

Stay safe.

Every region has something. At least for Floridians, these things occur within a season, and people have time to prepare and get the hell out if a hurricane is coming. Tornadoes and earthquakes can happen any time of the year, without days of warning.

I'm sorry for you guys...heck we even have property down there. But really, the thought of all the disaster relief bonds and getting a piece of the action is enough to make my heart flutter.
