Party Prior to Pref
 

Okay, we've asked which sororities you preffed? Now, which sorority parties did you attend the round PRIOR to pref?

You may wish to say how many parties you could attend, and any other pertinent information. :)

The party before Pref-- now Philanthropy party, back then I do not know what it was, I think skit night-- I attended ADPi, AGD, and DG!!

Our party before pref is Philanthropy...we can attend up to 6 parties. I went to ADPi, DZ, KD, Alpha Xi Delta, Chi O, and Theta.

When I went through (and I think it's still this way right now), the party before pref was Theme night (AKA skit night). We could go to a max of four parties, but at that point I was dropped to three sororities.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go to the party before pref :( I had a test for my major (at the time) down at Ball State early the next morning (due to some misinformation, I registered to take the test at the nearest test center to me that wasn't my university, and later found out the test WAS offered at my school that same day :mad: ), so I had to write a letter for all the sororities to let them know why I was unable to attend parties that evening.

If I HAD been able to attend, I would've been attending the parties of ADPi, Tri-Delta, and KD.

We could go to a maximum of three parties, and I attended Alpha Delta Pi, Sigma Kappa, and Kappa Delta. Back then (1993) we actually had TWO skit nights! The first we could do 4 of the 5, and the second 3 of the 5. And Preference was just two (Alpha Delta Pi and Sigma Kappa).

Shoot, I don't remember that far back!

Our first round was mandatory to visit each house (7). All but SDT invited me back. At some point I declined XO. Not sure when SK fell outta the picture. I think I went to parties at DZ and AXiD before pref. I preffed AXO and ADPi.

I posted this thread, knowing full well that I might be able to come up with this! We didn't do NPC rush at the time, so we had Open Houses, then 7, then 5, then 3, then Pref.

For my three-round, I went to KKG, DPhiE, and ADPi. If you knew the chapters at my campus at that time, these were three entirely different chapters, and I'm sure that the Greek Advisor must have thought I was schizophrenic at the time!

I'm really reaching here... Ok.

I rushed in 1997 at UCF. Here were our sororities at that time:
ADPi*
Alpha Xi
Tri-Delta*
KD*
DG*
Pi Ph*i
ZTA*


* had a house at that time (since 97, we have added Chi-O, Kappa, Theta, and AEPhi colonizes this fall! Currently, none of these chapters has a house. DG has sold its house and Alpha Xi now lives there. DG is still a sorority on campus, though, and thank goodness!)

At Greek Orientation, we met our Recruitment Counselors. Mine was a girl named Melissa. We got pink cups with Greek Letters painted on them and candy as a welcome gift. I befriended two PNM's (we were still calling them rushees then) named Melissa and Kellie.

Day One: Ice Water Day. We went to all 7 houses.
Day Two: Diversity Day. We went to all 7 houses. (This was replaced the following year with Philanthropy Day... Diversity Day consisted of brief skits.) At the end of this day, we ranked 4 sororities we would like to visit the next day.
Day Three: Skit Day (this has since been replaced with Video Day) I went to ZTA, ADPi, KD and Alpha Xi.
Day 4: Prefs. I went to ADPi first, then ZTA. (Melissa the other rushee, had gone to Pi Phi and Alpha Xi. Kellie had gone to Tri-Delta and Pi Phi.)
BID DAY: I got my first choice, and so did my friends! I ran to the ADPi house, Kellie to Tri-Delta, and Melissa to Pi Beta Phi! :)

Since my bid, I've been a live-in house girl, a diamond sis, pride leader, on exec, joined my alumnae association and served on exec, been a chapter adviser and an international officer... so I guess I made the right choice for me! :) I love UCF Greek Life because we aren't exclusive when it comes to Greek friendships-- everyone is friends with women in other sororities... In time, I developed my own little Panhellenic clique-- an ADPi, a Chi-O, a Tri-Delta, a KD and an Alpha Xi :)

Ok-- hmmmm let me think! I may be wrong but this is what I remember!

Akron had:

Open House- visited all 6 houses (ADPi, AGD, APhi, Chi-O, Kappa, and DG)

Skit Night- narrowed down to 4 (I chose ADPi, AGD, APhi, and DG)

Preference Party- narrowed down to 2 (ADPi and DG)


AND THE REST IS HISSSSSSSSSTORY!

I'm starting to think that I'm the only one who didn't have DG or ZTA on campus!! I know from old yearbooks that ZTA was on campus, but Delta Gamma never was, to my knowledge.

This is a big reach, since we have so many groups.

Open House (17): AXO, ADPi, AEPhi, AGD, AOPi, Alpha Xi, Alpha Phi, GPhiB, Tri-Delt, DG, DZ, ZTA, Theta, Kappa, KD, Chi O, Pi Phi

1st Round: (10) ADPi, Chi O, KD, Theta, DZ, Alpha Xi, Pi Phi, ZTA, Kappa, GPhiB

2nd Round: (6) Adpi, Chi O, KD, Theta, DZ, Alpha Xi

Pref: (3) ADPi, Chi O, KD

No you're not! My university had ADPi, AST (which closed the semester I was going through FR), Chi Omega, Tri-Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, and Pi Beta Phi. It seemed like at our campus if women went to a pref party at ADPi, they were more likely than not going to the other pref party at either Tri-Delta or Kappa Delta :)

ETA: Here's how my recruitment went:

Open House (7): ADPi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Kappa Kappa Gamma, Pi Beta Phi (not in the order I went to them, because I can't remember that!)

Philanthropy Round (6, spread out over two days of parties): ADPi, Chi Omega, Delta Delta Delta, Gamma Phi Beta, Kappa Delta, Pi Beta Phi

Theme Night (4): ADPi, Delta Delta Delta, KD (but this would be the round that I missed :()

Preference Night (2): ADPi & Tri-Delta
