Hurricane Frances
I just wanted to ask for all of you to keep everyone in Florida in your thoughts. It looks like Frances will hit us pretty bad here in Melbourne. We find out today if school is cancelled....which means the rest of Recruitment would be cancelled.
Just keep us (Theta Zeta), Barry (Theta Omega), and all the other Alpha Phi's in Florida in your thoughts. Thanks. AOE, Lyndsay :-Þ |
Lyndsay we will be thinking of you all!!!!
|
I'm gettin the Heeeeell outta Dodge. I'm flying to Chicago Friday at 6 AM (and probably getting to the airport at midnight). Since I already got evacuated from work, I'll just think of this as a nice, long weekend vacation.
P.S. The eye is gonna go right over my boyfriend's house if it stays on its predicted path. I'm hoping he has a home to come back to on Monday. :( |
Glad he decided to go with you, Nicole.
Lyndsay, are you leaving town too,if classes are cancelled? |
Yup. School closes today at 5. Gas is already sold out. I'm getting out of here. I'm going north. Most likely meeting my family in Nags Head....but we'll see. Thanks!
|
I was thinking about you two all day but couldn't jump on the board until tonite. My door is always open if you want to come to California! Fingers crossed that the chapter house weathers the storm.
|
Oh man. I am glad to hear you all are getting the heck out of there. They are already predicting that a huge hurricane is going to hit my hometown. yikes!
|
Ugh. My feet hurt from being on them for the past 48 hours boarding up my boyfriend's house down in Grant (directly between Melbourne and Vero Beach). I finally got into Chicago at 8:15 local time after being up all night fighting the lines at Orlando Airport so I could actually make my 6 AM flight. Some people are just nuts.
My roommate thankfully got his windows all boarded up. I'm less concerned about my stuff because I really don't have all that much and it's really a temporary place to rent while I house hunt. Looks like real estate will be cheap when I get back! |
I'm here for ya' astroAphi...I'll be thinking of you and your friends and the sisters there - glad you made it to Chicago...You have an open door at my place...even though I am on the other side of the country in Oregon.
AOE Always, Maharet :) |
I think I just heard that the hurricane made landfall in Stuart, which is where one of the sisters that Lyndsay and I are close to is from and where she evacuated to. Please keep my sister Lauren and her family in your prayers. I'm not going to even try calling her until tomorrow because I'm sure she has plenty to worry about as is.
:( :( :( :( :( :( |
My mom is directly north of Stuart in Port St. Lucie. I haven't talked to her yet this morning, but there is a huge amount of red on the radar screen over that whole area right now. I'm freaking out. I really hope the cell phone towers don't go down! Then I'll have no idea how she is!
|
Has anyone heard the extent of it in Stuart/jupiter? I am very concerned becuase i know someone there
|
Cutiepatootie,
A lot of roads are half washed out, a lot of people around my mom seem to have lanai's (spelling???) that are really damaged. Lot of roof tiles and tree branches on the ground. But they didn't get hit super hard I don't think, and the markets are now open. But they'll be without power for a while. I'm just really happy that Ivan seems to be going south of them! |
Hey all. I haven't heard anything from anyone about the damage down there. I'm in Northern Virginia right now. I drove back with my family from Nags Head since school is out for the rest of the week.
If I find out more info about the damage, I will most definitely let you guys know. Thanks for all your prayers. AOE, Lyndsay |
