Duke Expansion

Heard that Duke is expanding, anyone have info on this?

I'm also interested, especially since it wasn't that long ago that the AEPhi chapter there closed.

Duke's Greek Life website has extension presentations from the 1st to the 10th. Found out that KD is presenting, not sure who else

Kappa Delta, Sigma Kappa and Zeta Tau Alpha - http://www.duke.edu/web/panhel/newspage.html

Good luck everyone!

The group chosen will join an impressive existing panhellenic! Good luck to the presenting groups!

Our Phi chapter was at Duke from 1915 until the early 90's. It would be great to get one of our single letter chapters back and especially at Duke which has a great greek system!

Best of luck to KD and Sigma Kappa, also!

Duke would be a recolonization for Sigma Kappa as well. Our Alpha Psi chapter was on campus from 1931 to 1967(?).

Good luck to KD and ZTA, too! I'm sure any of the three groups would make an excellent addition to the campus.

It would also be a recolonization for us as well (our Sigma Delta chapter... not sure how old it is). So it's nice to know all three are on "equal footing" in that regard!

nice that it would be a recolonization for the chosen group. Duke has a good greek system.

Wow, there are a lot of NC-piedmont schools that are expanding. Tri-Delta is colonizing at Elon and Pi Phi will be at NC State. This is pretty cool :)

From the Duke Panhellenic Association.

During the month of September, representatives from Kappa Delta, Sigma Kappa and Zeta Tau Alpha will be on campus to present the Council and the Greek community with information about their respective organizations.
"...to present the Council and the Greek community..."

Does this mean that non Panhellenic GLOs will have a say in expansion?

It just says they'll present the Greek community with info. As far as that goes, even though they won't vote, I think it would be beneficial to hear the non-NPC groups' thoughts on the presentations.

Thanks. I didn't think non PC groups would (could) vote, but wasn't sure.

It would be interesting if others did get to vote. Many fraternity men might have family who are members or the particular groups presenting. For example, I have family members in two of the groups presenting and were I to vote, I might be "biased" toward them. Or vote for the third just to keep peace in the family. :p

Only Panhellenic delegates can vote usually- one from each existing chapter. BUT it's good to have lot's of Greeks there to hear opinions...for example. When we picked Pi Phi for NCSU, at least 20 girls from each sorority were required to attend ALL expansion presentations...then we talked to our Panhellenic delegate and made a decision as a chapter who to vote for...then our delegate voted. IFC officers also came to the presentations, but they did not have a vote or anything. I imagine it'll be kinda like that.
