I'm going to hell
 

That's what the 12yo handing out fliers while some guy hold a huge "Accept Jesus or Perish" banner was "preaching" outside our campus's library.
So I paused to hear what the guy was screaming about- something about women working and voting are going to hell for trying to be men. And the kid comes up and tries to give me a flier, I say no. He tries again so I go "sorry, not my religion" and he shouts "You're still going to hell" then goes on to pester another innocent bystander.

Heh. If that was my university I'd get the lot of them thrown off campus for solicitation.

Don't feel so bad. I was going to hell the moment I was born...you know being a woman all. Therefore I am responsible for original sin...well at least according to my relatives.

That's the free-speech zone, they can pretty much do whatever they want there.

Too bad you weren't around for Godsocks guy. He was a laugh riot.

You could have said, "Hey thanks for letting me know I'll save you a seat for the bus ride down"

We had Mad Max at IU for several years...he used to go between IU, Purdue, and Illinois. I think he is dead, though. Now there's Brother Jim and Brother Dan. Some of the finest free entertainment between classes, especially when they get way into it with the hecklers. :D

Even if its a free speech zone don't you have a right not to be told something like that?? Something similar happened on my campus and I filed a complaint with campus security.

According to the book of Leviticus, IowaStatePhiPsi should have known he was going to hell YEARS ago......

Awww... I haven't seen a religious loon (of any denomonation) on campus in a couple of years now, and almost a decade since one showed up for rush... I honestly love to debate religion and philospohy with them, as it's generally pretty easy to poke holes in their arguements. Hopefully some will have some hit campus again this year :D It really helps kill time.... and is good entertainment.

actually like 2 or 3 years ago they expanded the free-speech zone back to the entire campus- something about Constitutional rights and Fuhrer Jischke violating them.

And I experienced Godsocks a few times. BTW- he died 2wks ago. And his son is still running the Death Traps.

My favorite religious loon was the one last year that was boasting "I lived with lesbians!" "God gives me money!"

When religious nuts bring that up I bring up the "I dont believe in fairytales, please take your bedtime stories elsewhere" retort. My pastor laughed when he heard me say that to "Brother Joe" last year.

We just haven't figured out why he's harassing Iowa State.
(yes, they're still around- loudly shouting that women who work or vote are impersonating men and going to hell and that college is a waste of time and money)
