Roomie wants to be KD again....

Hey girls! My roomie pledged KD 5 years ago, but the last two years of college she had to drop out b/c she worked at the hospital, TA'd for a professor, took 18 hours, and was applying for Grad School. IT was a lot of stress on her.

But now as an ALumni, I have finally encouraged her to get back in gear with things!! I know there are tons of ways that she would love to help out with. And she misses all of her KD stuff.

So, what does she need to do????

Hi Daisy,
I'm just wondering if you know if your roomate dropped out of Kappa Delta as in, she filled out paperwork voiding her membership and turned in her pin through National KD Headquarters, or she kind of just dropped out through her chapter by going inactive for the last 2 years of her college career. If she did the former, she is not considered a Kappa Delta anymore. :( If she didn't fill out any sort of formal paper work and did not officially "drop her pin," then I would tell her to go to Kappa Delta's Website and search for her nearest Alumnae Association. There will be a contact (AA President, most likely), and she can email them to find out how to get involved. I'm a very new alumna myself, so I'm not involved with an AA yet. KDDani was President of the Pitt. area AA last year I believe...maybe she can add something?!;)

I wish your roomate the best! And roses to you for trying to get a Panhellenic sister involved as an alum!

Good answer, Shae!
It really depends on whether she really still has membership in KD. One would think she'd realize if she was no longer a member, but many people don't. If she resigned, that's a no-go. If her membership was revoked because she was MIA for 2 years, also a no-go. If she has no clue, her best bet is to contact KD HQ.
Once she determines if she's a member or not, all she has to do to get involved is contact her local AA. She may also want to contact any chapters in the area to see if they need assistance. Another option to ease back into the KD world is to join our yahoogroup.
If she has any other questions, tell her to stop on by here!

Thanks girls!!!

I think what happened was, she had to write a letter informing the chapter and nat'ls that she was overwhelmed and could no longer participate in KD that year. SHe was a member for 2 years.

Her little sister is now the President, so I'll tell her to contact and a few people. Wish her luck!!!

Thanks again!! :)
