*people complaining about how rude other gc members are... but yet they go around picking on people.

*people trying to ban gc members because their point of views differ.

*people being able to dole out the shit talking, but can't take it when the tables are turned.

*people being disrespectful of other glos' tradition/history/etc.

*people acting like they are the all high and mighty.

*people making comments based on hear-say.

*people ganging up on gc members to make them feel inferior.

*people that just tend to take on the persona of being the gc bully.


oh and there’s so much more, but there’s not enough time in the day to post it all!

I belong to several other boards that are similar to GC, as well as multiple listservs and GC is sadly the only place I see this stuff go on in. Pretty bad for so many people who are always preaching about promoting inter-Greek relations and not living up to stereotypes and all that other BS they say that makes absolutely no sense when they act the way they do on these boards............I would really love to see if the people who are the "meanest" are really that bold in real-life without having the internet to hide behind. I still think the age old adage of if you don't have nothing nice to say, don't say it at all works wonders. I think a big problem in GC has to do with lack of maturity due to age and experience about how to handle people, as well as rivalries and problems with other GLO's personally that are taken out onto other members of these boards. I also think that the internet also attracts the wierdos and people with many issues which is seen through their posts and slammings of others on GC. I know this has already been said countless times in these threads and my words will probably be torn apart and I'll be flamed as well but I can also take it. I also think it's really interesting that the meanest of the posters who say they really could care less about what goes on in GC, and "have nothing against anyone" are the one's constantly posting and tearing everyone else apart for their posts..............

Of these boards that you belong to, do any of them have as many registered users as GC? Do any of them come close? Have any of them been around longer than GC? And have you witnessed any changes to these sites (resulting from an increase in users)?

For the defense of GC, not everyone that uses or posts on GC is affiliated with a GLO.

I know one that has almost as many members as gc does, and as far as how long it's been around, you have to ask Shannon about that. I know it was around before I was greek myself. And yes the site changed it's WHOLE format. When the format change, that is when I started posting on the message board. I used to only visit the site to view greek pics and video clips.

I understand what you are trying to say. Also as Imperial mentioned, I am sure that the people who seem the most awful are really not that way. I am just pointing out that a lot of the things that are said on these boards (by both Greeks and Non-Greeks) we really could ALL do without. Being part of this forum definately brings out all kinds and I haven't been around from the beginning, I've only been active on this site since early this past spring. I am sure a lot has changed since then, some for the better, some for the worst. Some of the sites I belong to have gotten their share of nastiness but it has been killed quickly by swift moderators. I know that is one of the biggest challenges of this site since it has so many members, it is impossible to review every post. And I also realize some of us are more sensitive then others, and when things are posted, they can be interpreted in MANY different ways. But I think everyone gets the point of what this thread (and the other threads about this same topic) mean. I still think it is better to be nice, educate people in a professional and non-confrontational way if they say something that offends others, and again, if there is not something nice to say, just don't say it. You also learn a lot about how people are by what they write.......This aspect doesn't account for everything about a person obviously, but plays a big part.

I don't know why people still try to get others banned. I've been banned 3 times and i always came back.

i love fight club. more effort should be made by everyone on gc to make posts with more references to fight club.
