A new Theta Chapter!!!!!!!

The Eta Mu chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta will be recolonizing this fall at Occidental College.

I'm about to do a search on this school. I've never heard of it and have no clue where it is! :)

Oh! It's in Los Angeles, CA :) Another addition to our great chapters in California!!!!

Interesting though........the college has two current sororities, both local from best I can tell. I dont know if Theta is turning one of the locals into a colony or completely starting fresh with a new chapter. I'm happy either way. My chapter originally started as a local and four years later became a Theta chapter in 1972!

Yay! Finally! I was wondering when we were going to get another new chapter!!

Time to haul out the ol' Theta stationery and start writing congratulations letters!

Finally? My chapter just got colonized a year ago! :) I read about this too, and I was really excited, because the Thetas from Davis were so wonderful to us, it'd be nice to kind of welcome the newest chapter.

Well, yeah, but that's a whole year!

I'm impatient to see Theta grow. ;)

Yes! Yes! I like seeing atleast one completely new chapter open up each year or recolonize/reopen a chapter that has been closed(I hope we get more chapters opened/reopened in the south in the future!).

I wanted to say CONGRATULATIONS!! Occidental is an outstanding liberal arts school in a neighborhood of LA known as Eagle Rock, about a hop, skip and jump from the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. The alumnae are very devoted and the students are high caliber. There are two local sororities that are about 90 years old, and there was a third that closed spring before last, I think. (I wonder if you're acquiring their house?) I don't believe there have ever been national sororities there, although there are national fraternities. (In fact, I fell through a hole in the floor at the SAE house when I was a collegian and we did a cross-town exchange! That house was NOT in the best of shape.) We've got some good friends who are very active alums, so I keep up to date through them.

Good luck to Theta at Occidental!!

Hi Ladies,

funny this shows up so fast on GC! I think they posted it on the web yesterday.

I'm on the district team for this chapter, so we've been talking about them for a while. The HM chapter will be colonized with unaffiliated women, not one of the local chapters. I'm working on the budget for them right now. Fun!

Speaking of new chapters, do any of y'all know if Theta might be planning to re-colonize at Auburn? A buddy of mine on here that's a DG and I suspect that it might happen in the next couple of years. For example, we've each seen recent issues of the Theta magazine in the campus Greek Life Office, and as far as we know, Theta is still paying rent on their chapter room in the dorm because all the old Theta stuff is down there still and so is the name on the wall going down (I heard a maintenance guy talking about how there was still stuff down there when he had to clean the A/C ducts to the chapter rooms in the basement). I was just wondering because every other sorority that's left campus has come back, and DG has had a roaring success despite being the youngest chapter here. Why not let someone else join the party? :D

Theta at Auburn

It was great to hear DG has done so well with their recolonization on the Auburn campus.

When the Theta chapter closed at Auburn, two rooms in the previous Theta area were rented from AU for storing the Theta items. All Theta items have now been moved from the AU property.
