Why Do You Post on Here?
I'm don't want to alarm anyone with my subject. I'm working towards developing or re-developing my thesis in communications and was just curious as to why people (we) participate in forums like this?
Any response is GREATLY appreciated. ------------------ Director #2 LMAC Spr 99 |
Personally, I post at this forum because I have something in common with these fine folks, that being the greek system. Mainly, it keeps me in the loop, because I am not enrolled at a college with a Sigma chapter. This forum makes me feel apart of the system, and is a place where I can relate, sit back and smile, recall the old days (which was last year), and share stories of my own.
I know I'm being redundent, but it's because I have something in common in here...Everyone needs a place to relate to. It's also a place for younger, non-greeks to find out information and get advice. I don't personally know these people, but I look forward to what they have to say. Like a mini-greek system of it's very own. ------------------ Sigma Sigma Sigma Zeta Eta |
I post here because I am a member of a German fraternity and I am interested in getting to know more about American fraternities.
|
This is also a place where many greeks through-out the world can come and share stories, ideas, opportunities, and support.
|
I post on here because I like interacting with the people from different groups. It's is also interesting to learn about other organizations.

I post here because this gives me some insight on different organizations. I am moments away on deciding which group I want to bring to my school and by posting here it gives me a chance to met people from those organizations. I've learn so much by reading the formus and by posting. I don't know what I would do if Greekchat was gone.

I'd have to agree w/ all of the above statements. I wanted to add this:
I've been posting for awhile, but over the summer I became a National Council member for my particular fraternity( http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif). One of the reasons that I post and read topics now is to see what's going on nationwide, what the climates for greek life are like in different areas, hear lots of ideas, etc. and then apply these things to my input for my own organization. Plus, this thing is addictive!! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/wink.gif ------------------ SilverTurtle@greekchat.com Phi Beta Fraternity Phi chapter |
I post here for a variety of reasons:
1. I'm fascinated by social interactions, both on group and individual levels. It's interesting to see how different communities interact - a particular house, an umbrella organizations, or Greekchatters. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif 2. I'm insatiably curious specifically about greek organizations. I love researching the histories and traditions of various organizations. It's interesting to learn about the diversity of organzations, and how they came to be. 3. This forum is a great place to share a vision I've embraced with others. It's not always obvious why someone would choose a young, small organization to affiliate with, and this forum is a great opportunity to share. 4. It's important to me to put my own greek identity into perspective with greek life as a whole. I know why I'm greek - why are others? This forum is a great place to learn about the myriad facets of greekdom. 5. This forum is a great place to learn and to share. I've gleaned quite a few ideas from these posts that I've taken back to my chapter! Do let us know how your thesis goes, Director! Best of luck with it. http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/smile.gif ------------------ equeen A Lioness has her Pride! @>--;-- Alpha Sigma Kappa - Women in Technical Studies |
A lot of my friends (including some sisters) have the "college days are over, that greek stuff is over" attitude. I post on here because of all the other great alumni/ae who know it's NOT!
It's also great to look at this site and know our chapter is not the only one that this or that happened to. |
Oh yeah, I also forgot to mention that posting here is a great way to meet people. I met a girl here who goes to the same school as me. We have the same thoughts and opinions about the our school's greek system. So Greekchat is a great way to meet people who you may have not had the opportunity to meet when you attend a school with 30,000+ students

I post here because I am completely addicted to Greek Chat!
I have to know if there are any new topics that I can read. Some of them are informative and some are hilarious. I like learning about ALL of the various organizations. I like being able to express my opinions. ------------------ We often give our enemies the means for our own destruction. Aesop c550 BC |
I just found this board over the weekend and found myself on here for over 10 hours reading old messages and replying to them. I love talking about Greek Life because it is still a big part of my life. I am president of my alumnae chapter and have also decided to pursue this as a career. I am also one of the founders of my sorority's Yahoo board where we talk all day. I am totally dedicated to promoting the Greek system and will defend it to my end! http://www.greekchat.com/forums/ubb/biggrin.gif
