Common Sense

At some point or another, we all lose it. I'm talking about common sense.

Please don't come on Greek Chat and ask about "reputations" of particular sororities, fraternities, etc. Please don't ask "What would you change about your GLO's symbols?"

It just ignites flame wars and people tripping over one another to be nice and/or rude.

For example, I'm sorry if this thread hurts any feelings. But please, exercise some maturity and common sense. You joined your GLO because you found a common link with the members at your chapter and you identified with the values behind the GLO. All the rest of that stuff-- symbols, colors, mascots-- are window dressing. Our values are what make us unique.

Values don't change over time. People change. Programs change. This is a great forum to talk about new programs and how to make chapters better. I am not a moderator of GC, and I'm not trying to act like a moderator when I say this, but please consider when you post a thread ... before you click "Submit," decide what ignited the burning desire to "know." Is it really something that makes a difference? Is it going to be a mature conversation that has any relevance on GC?

If no... go to Chit Chat. That's a fun forum for inane ideas and good times. Not that the Greek Forum isn't fun, but please... post with a purpose.

/Feel free to flame me. I feel this is a legitimate post./

The recent "what do you think of" was the first one we've had in a LONG while. They used to be cropping up every day. The best way to kill them is to just say really ridiculous things.

not that I would know. ;)

But if you have something positive to say, I see no problem with that.

It's best to do what mommy always told you: If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Or not to post replys at all and let them slip further and further down and off of page 1.

PhiPsiRuss 08-24-2004 11:34 AM

**APPLAUSE for adpiucf!!!**

Have you ever wondered why they call it "common sense" when it seems to be so rare?

winneythepooh7 08-24-2004 11:43 AM

Thank you for posting this thread!!!!! I am all for a good discussion on anything random, and even some ridiculous/funny/ nonsense-ical threads. However, it never ceases to amaze me how people continue to post the what do you think of__________organization threads. I know we all have come across members of XYZ we don't like but to post that here is not in good Greek-spirit. It can get pretty heated already in the non-Greek related threads so we don't need anymore animosity that can be prevented by not starting those threads to begin with!!!!

adpiadvisor 08-24-2004 11:55 AM

That is what interfraternalism is all about. I am glad we understand!

Sometimes the people who start these types of threads think that they're the first ones to come up with the idea. It's an thread topic that is just tired.

Well said adpicuf.
