am i a legacy?!
hey guys! i was visiting family this weekend and my aunt told me she was in a sorority and that i'm a legacy. but i thought to be a legacy to a sorority your mom or grandma were supposed to have been in one. so am i a legacy?
and also.. if i am do i still need a recomendation letter? and could my aunt write the letter? thanks!! :) :) |
Whether or not you are a legacy would depend on what group your aunt is a member of and what their definition of "legacy" is.
And yes, you still would. A lot of groups, have a legacy introduction form. BUT, being a legacy does NOT guarantee you a bid. |
In Alpha Delta Pi it is a daugther, grandaughter, or sister. But a family member can still send in a recommendation for you-- just not a legacy introduction! Hope that helps for my sorority!

In Kappa Alpha Theta a legacy is defined as a great grandmother, grandmother, mother, or sister.
A legacy introduction letter is needed in addition to a recommendation. And as someone else has said, being a legacy and having both a legacy introduction and a recommendation DOES NOT guarantee a bid. |
thanks so much! i understand that it doesn't guarantee me a bid, but it doesn't hurt either. i'm sorry.. i should have stated that my aunt is a delta zeta if that makes any differance.

Is there a Delta Zeta Chapter at your College? A legacy for Delta Zeta follows the same pattern, if your grandmother, mother, or sister is a Delta Zeta you are a legacy. Your aunt can fill out a recommendation form for you. She can get one from the sister side of our national website. Legacies don't automatically receive bids. Good luck! Let me know how your rush goes..:D
