btw, there is a nice article in last week's Newsweek about georgia o'keeffe:) |
Hi!
What kind of ideas do you have already? We didn't really have a spirit weekend before, is this something new for this year (or even from last year)? What will be going on that weekend? Let me know some more info and i'd be happy to help think up some ideas! |
Hope it isn't too late!
(Sorry this is kinda long!)
Here is my favorite KD Spirit Week activity. We usually played this game on the first night. It's called "I Love All My KD Sisters." It's very similar to "Never Have I Ever," if you're familiar with that. You all sit in a circle, on chairs. There is one less chair than there are people, so one person stands up in the middle. The person in the middle has to walk up to a sister sitting down and say "I love all my KD sisters, except those who ____________." They can fill in the blank with anything from "those who are wearing jeans" to "those who have made out with a LXA." So the person standing up will go to someone who is wearing jeans and say "I love all my KD sisters except those who are wearing jeans." All the sisters who are wearing jeans has to get up, and run through the middle of the circle to try to find an empty chair. The sister who said it in the first place will grab the empty chair of the person they went up to. Obviously, there will be one person left in the middle of the circle. Now she has to go up to someone and say "I love all my KD sisters except __________ (something different)." The only rule is you must move more than one chair away. You can't just switch seats with the person next to you. If you are not wearing jeans, or have not made out with a fraternity boy, stay seated. People get called out on lots of things, and sometimes it's funny to see only one person get out of their chair. This game can get really personal and depending on your sisters, a little wild and racy. I promise you will find out things about sisters that you never would have known otherwise! This game is so much fun, make the circle really big so people can run around to find open chairs. Might want to have people play in bare feet, or else make everyone wear sneakers, because we've had sisters almost beat each other up to get to the last empty chair! :p Another good, more calm activity, is a teddy bear pass. We sit in a circle (geez we love circles don't we?!) and pass a teddy bear around, one person at a time. When a person has the bear, only she can talk. Some people talk about how great sisterhood is, some get touchy subjects off their chest, quiet people who never really talk start gabbing away...I think this is a great activity before recruitment. It almost always ends in a huge group hug! Good luck with your retreat and recruitment of course! |
We play "I Love My KD Sister," too. Which is very similar to the game you were talking about! You get to learn so much about everyone! (Sometimes a little too much ;) )
