Totally Hypothetical situation

I am so upset at the threads where half of the groups on campus do not make quota and tons of girls are bidless. So sad! I've heard that this happens because the same few top houses try for only the "top" few PNM's and then there are only a few girls left to pref or whatever (You know what I am trying to say).

OK-here's my situation/question.

What if a smaller group on campus-or heck any group actually, that has a hard time getting to quota did something radical...really radical... like purposely cut the "top" girls only and keep all the girls that they "know" the "top" sororities will NOT want to keep? What IF that happened??? Would it help the groups and PNM's? Maybe a PNM who is nice but not "Barbie perfect" maybe not get cut by everybody because all the groups were going for the same few girls?

Radical situation 2:
What if PNM's thought to themselves "It's better to get a bid from somebody than nobody?" What if they rushed and cut only the houses they KNEW they couldn't get into and kept a few they KNEW they could. I'm not saying that you shouldn't dream big...but what if you gave even the tiny house a chance?

I don't know. Just babbling here! Good luck to everyone though!!!!!

One problem, two words: human error. People want what they want and some are too stubborn to let anyting get in their ways. Also, going through as a PNM the only house that I didn't know was "top teir" was one with sinificantly less sisters (10 compared to the 60 other chapters had). You have to consider those girls as well.

I think this probably happens relatively often in schools that have deferred rush and open association between freshmen and sorority members. I mean, if Susie's sister is a Kappa, she hangs out with the Kappas at parties all the time and changes her dorm so she can live next to the Kappa suite, I'm going to probably say there's a 99.9% chance that I should just go ahead and cut Susie because she's going to go Kappa.

But when you're rushing before school even starts, I don't know how you can predict things like that. Say ASA is the sorority with all the athletes - and Jen is a 4 time HS tennis champ and was also on the basketball & track teams. Maybe you decide to cut her because you assume she'll want to be with other athletes. Little do you know that over the summer, she messed up her leg and the LAST thing she wants is to be around anyone talking about sports. You just potentially screwed yourself out of someone who might have been a good sister.

Plus just because someone looks good to YOU doesn't mean she does to the other groups. She could look great on paper but the other chapters might have girls who went to HS with her and know what she's really like.
