Values

We keep hearing more and more that ours is a values-based organization.

What, to you, are our values as a collegiate women's society? How do we live these values daily? How are these values exemplified in our leadership and our programs?

/opening up the floor for a dialogue...

What exactly do you mean by values-based? Like as far as christian values? Just trying to clarify.

I have heard people compliment on how much respect we have for our founders and the reasons why Alpha Delta Pi was established in the beginning. I think this is so true... I find it rare to find ADPis who can't name all of our founders. I think we all know our history well, and I think that is special.

I know I am probably way off topic, but I will rarely pass up a chance to brag on my sisters. :)

I think this is a question that needs more thought than I have quickly given it, however...

I keep a copy of our Creed next to the computer. I cannot tell you how many times I have wanted to post something, glanced at the Creed, and deleted the whole post! Knowing that I am a member of the sorority that "got the ball rolling" keeps me grounded, yet makes me yearn to challenge myself to be better and kinder each and every day.

There will be those who say that values change with the times, and in the superficial things of life, they do. But I'd like to think that in the core of our beings, our values haven't changed much since 1851.

I can't speak for other GLOs, since I've obviously never been a member, but I know ADPi has helped to shape who I am today. It's always in the back of my mind, reflecting on my actions; the creed, the scriptures, the songs, other sisters who are my friends and role models.
I think we, as ADPi's, put such an emphasis on our history, values and being a life-long member. I don't know if all other GLOs do that. I know some do!
I never WAS an ADPi.... I always AM an ADPi.
