Relocation and Cover letters
ok, maybe ya'll can help me out. right now i'm based out of denver, but am conducting my job search pretty much anywhere in the west or south. ex. atlanta, dallas, LA, SF, Seattle, etc. what's the best way in a cover letter to let firm know that i'm serious about relocating to their city? i don't want them to see that i'm in colorado and think i'm not serious about moving to LA or dallas. i'm not sure exactly what to say, and where to put it in the cover letter. . .first paragraph, last paragraph? help please!

This is just my preference....
But I only read the first and last paragraph of a cover letter unless it is a candidate that sparks an interest. I would put it in the last paragraph with something about able to relocate at own expense within immediately. A lot of the time being out of town is a problem but most companies will higher out of the area for the right candidate. I get resumes from people across the US and relocation expectations it always my first question. |
thanks for your advice adpialumcsuc!!

Be upfront about it...maybe even work in some sort of lie about a connection (ie you have family there) and really are interested in moving somewhere different now to work.
