Just saw 28 Days Later
 

I liked it. Good characters development and for once, we get to see that supplies will run out, even when facing bad guys. Something that is very rare in the horror genre, except running out of bullets. But they never an out of foods or waters.

I got the DVD.

How did you find it? I could see how some people would not like it. It is a very different movie. You should check out Omega Man, same concept. Except Charlton Heston is in it. :)

It was ok, I thought it got stupid when all the zombies were acting the way they did. The music in the movie was kind of korny.

God... not Omega Man... an overblown adaptation of a good sci-fi book; a little to "hokey" for me. However I did find the original movie adaptation staring Vincent Price a lot more entertaining, from a character development standpoint.

However I loved 28 Days Later, for the film editing and character development... I hope the sequel being planned at least attempts to live up to the quality of 28 Days Later.

the only thing that threw me off in the story as how quickly unit discipline faded in that one military group.

ITs like the writer couldn't resist throwing in a Joseph Conrad "Heart od Darkness" social commentary, but it seems unlikely that a unit would fall apart in a little over a month that way.

It seemed realsitic to me, in that seeing the collapse of civilization unit discipline would be stretched.... all in all the seemed to have some cohesiveness right up until the officer was removed from the picture, compounded by the competition over the females.

I am just thinking of the time factor. But i guess it woud depend on who was in the unit?

You were in the military, were there units that would have held to civilization longer than others?

Well tighter combat units generally have a high level of unit cohesion and discipline in "difficult" times.... unfortunately the movie doesn't make any references (well that I saw) to the unit the military dudes came from... most likely didn't want to step on any toes. So a special forces or other elite unit most likely would have held together alot better than these guys... and picked a better position to hunker down in too, I mean come on pick an older castle! The countryside is full of them.

Going on from what I saw in the film, and from what I know of military procedure when it comes to "Aid to Civil Authority" (Martial Law) these guys came from a support or reserve unit , as they seemed suprised at the effects of their weaponry (indicating not much pratical experience), in addition to their stores and supplies - easier to obtain in the rear echelon. I'd also hazzard to guess that in the scenario portrayed in the film that eilte or even combat units would have protected themselves more effectively from "infection" and withdrawn to more defensible locations from which to launch future operations (or at least I would have :) )

I loved this movie. Its definately going in my DVD collection.
