Hollywood Tans

So since i'm going to Ocean City this weekend, I decided to get a spray tan (I can't really tan naturally, nor do I want the skin damage). I have gotten a spray tan before, at a place in my old neighborhood, loved it.

Went to HT last night and hated it. The backs of my thighs are still white, while there's super dark spots in other places. I know there's supposed to be some dark spots, that's just what happens, but this is ridiculous. I blended it and did everything I was supposed to.

Went I had got to the other place, you would stand one way, it would do a pass of the tanning stuff, then a pass of air to dry it. You'd here a click and then turn. With HT you go in, it starts spraying, you move your arm and leg once one way, once the other way. I got a much more even tan at the non-HW tan place.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to lighten some of the dark spots? It's not even just spots, some areas are a lot darker than others. I've heard lemon juice, and i'll have to pick some up today.

Nail polish remover also works. Also try body wash with exfoliating scrub and a loofa. It helps some too. How quickly it fades depends upon the solution they used. Also, call the store you went to and ask them what gets their solution out of your skin. They should know.

Next time make sure the place uses Mystic Tan.

Hijack!

See I got a Mystic tan before my Hawaii trip and I still looked strange. Some of the solution collected near my arm pits and it took forever to fade out. So when my fake tan on my arms faded, but armpits and knees didn't. And the solution seemed to really hit my face. My legs still looked white but my face was just darker than normal.

I just need to stick to being pale.

Aw, man! I was just thinking about trying out a Mystic Tan... but I was worried that my face would look too dark. I didn't know I also needed to worry about my thighs and under-arms!

Has anyone had a good experience with Mystic Tan?

I LOVE Mystic Tan. I have been using it since it came out and have had great luck with it. So have my sisters. I have much darker skin than my sisters do but we all use level 2 and look very normal. You have to be good with the cream and make sure you really wipe yourself down well and scrub your fingernails afterward.

Dani, you're so classically pretty; no need to go all Paris Hilton-orange on us!

Mystic Tan is not orange if you use the right level for your skin color and you go to a reputable place. It gives people a very natural healthy looking glow.

Danielle, I think this is one of those things you need to go to Shadyside for. :) A girl in our office who lives down your way got a spray tan and it was even, but she was this color for quite a while.

There's a place across the street from my office that uses Mystic Tan. After going my first summer without a dark tan (working really takes a toll on your sunbathing schedule), I'm really not enjoying the pale look I've got going on. You all have convinved me to try Mystic Tan (there's another thread on it here that helped me too) . I think I'll try to make an appointment for sometime next week

I've done both the one where you stand up and hold your arms above your head while the actual booth sprays you and then I've also done it where you actually have a girl spray your whole body to insure they get you everywhere and get it the right tone you want. I liked having the chick spray me the best....she used a clear solution that didnt coat you but rather soaked into the skin and then brought the color out from within, it turned me 4 shades darker. One of my friends chose a spray that just coated your skin and ended up looking like a leopard 3 days later.

Thankfully, I don't look like a splotchy muppet. I was able to tone down the couple darker spots. I don't want to ever be too dark b/c it just doesn't look right on me. I must say, my hair looks a lot blonder and my eyebrows too.

I think i'll definately opt to go to the place where I used to live in the future. Or try a Mystic Tan place.

I'd like to try the kind where a person sprays you, but I don't have the bucks for it. Also, don't know where around here does it.

I usually pay 25-30$ a session. It lasts for a week if you don't put lotion on each night...if you do it'll last longer. Most health clubs, gyms and tanning salons either have someone who will do it or can put you in touch with a person who does.

Wow, 25-30? That's much less than I thought it would be. It's $25 for Hollywood Tans, Mystic, etc around here

Here's the thing about Mystic. Your first time or two you might not get it right. Because of that it might spot your body on some parts if you're not careful. Make sure you cover your hands and feet real well with barrier cream.

Also, they say to lotion before the spray and after every time you get out of the shower. I don't understand the point of this because it's not real tanning but whatever.

And after you get sprayed it's kinda sticky so wear something comfortable. They say don't shower for 4 hours but I would do it in the morning after I just showered and wait until the next day (24 hours) and it would stay on longer and better. Sometimes I would do it twice in 2 days just to get a cooler darker color.

My biggest tip? Don't wear anything white...this crap will come off on contact zones along the neck area especially and will make it bronze and then it's hard to remove that without bleaching.
