Wow!!! This is soooo creepy! Can you imagine going shopping and seeing a bunch of caskets right next to your favorite food?? It makes me not want to shop there. Even though it's a reality, it would just be too weird.

Dont ya'll have those Caskets Plus stores there? They have them here. Its like a regular store in a strip mall that you can go in and buy a discount casket and I assume have it delivered somewhere.

I dotn know whats creepy about it at costco. So you get reminded of death at the store. its no different than being reminded of death driving on the freeway and seeing an accident cleanup or watching any evening news program.

Death is a part of life and the sooner we all get used to it, the less creaped out we'd be by seeign caskets at Costco.

I would use my casket as luggage, you might as well get some use out of it while its useful to you to have uses.

how about as furniture?

I've never heard of a Caskets Plus, but that's fine if it's a store you're specifically going into to buy a casket. I certainly wouldn't want to be buying groceries and then turn the corner and see a stack of caskets. That's just weird.

mmcat 08-17-2004 07:30 AM

why not?
for the time being, sure, one can use it as furniture or storage.
consider the prices. delivery kind of sparks a smile. can you see it in an suv? or perhaps roped to the top of a hyundai.

Lucky.

There's a state law here that requires all caskets to be made in-state by licensed funeral homes.

Bodies also cannot be disposed of except by licensed funeral homes. The laws date back to statehood, so you have to figure a funeral director had an influential role in writing a lot of state laws.

OMG!!! sorry, but this is just sick. I understand the stress that people go through when planning a funeral, but to take away some of that stress with a trip to Costco? Whenever I think about Costco, I always think about the samples they give out on Sat.....not caskets! Can you imagine eating your pizza bite while looking at one?

Local dj is talking about this and his idea is to put the casket on luggage rack part of a car and put your groceries in it.

I love it. Buy your casket at Costco and have it "drop shipped" to the cemetary when you die.

Caskets look comfy though. I want one with a nice supportive mattress in it someday.
