Diffuser Question For The Girls
 

Do any of you use a diffuser? I love the touseled, just got off the beach, but still appropriate for a night of dancing look. I have super straight hair and I wanted to change it up so it's a bit wavy (think Olsen twins on all the magazine covers they've been on lately), but I'm not sure if diffusers will give that kind of look or if they just work wonders on curly haired girls. Any insights?

Oh, I thought you meant the thing that takes out some of the tar & stuff and makes for a cleaner hit.....

I have super straight hair like yours.

The only time a diffuser worked with my hair was when I had a body wave or permament in my hair.

I admit that I'm totally inept when it comes to hair; BUT, I am a naturally curly-haired person.

The way I understand it, a diffuser on a hair dryer is meant to soften the drying effects on hair by dispersing the flow out into a bigger radius. This is a big help for curly-haired people as our hair will poof out into an afro-like style if blown around with a regular dryer.

A hair dryer is not a curling iron.

If you have "super straight" hair, I don't think using a hair dryer with a diffuser is going to give you wavy hair. I'm sure you're going to have to use curlers and such in order to get wavy hair like Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. :(

By contrast, I tried to blow dry my curly hair straight yesterday using a technique I read about. It didn't work. Instead, I got left with the, "touseled, just got off the beach, but still appropriate for a night of dancing look". Oh well.

I have hair that has really big curls (not those tight curls that most curly haired girls have) anyhoo... diffuser will help me keep my curls if I'm blowdrying it... otherwise, I tend to end up with more curly hair if I use a regular dryer... or just poofy hair.... It's meant to work with the way your hair is supposed to be... If you want curls, go for a curler....

difusser's end up making hair frizzy if you dont use the right products or if you wait too long and your hair starts to dry

to get those wonderful "just off the beach waves" it helps you either live near the beach or live in a very humid climate.

i have wavy hair and i used Garnier Fructis anti-frizz stuff like whoa......it doesn't make your hair crunchy or weigh it down and it works through a hurricane (trust me, i used it this weekend when i had no power)

its a matter of finding the right products for your hair. ask different girls what they use, what they've liked and how it makes their hair feel.

I always use a diffuser or I am in Frizz Hell. It doesn't make your hair curl, it just cuts down on the frizz that curly or wavy haired ladies sometimes suffer from.

To make it curlier, I use KMS Curl Up or (for waves) Beach Blonde Funky Chunky. Let your hair air dry as much as possible. If your hair is super thin though, be careful because too much can weigh it down.

Another thing that works is braiding your hair when wet and leaving it in overnight - but be careful not to make too many/too small braids or it'll be frizzy. I tried this and it was worth it to hear Dad 33 say (when it was still braided) "You look like Whoopi Goldberg." This is more amusing than can be believed if you don't know my dad.

Thats what I thought too. Those Germans have engineres for everything.

I have annoyingly in between hair that you have to do something with - in between blond and brunette, in between wavy and straight, etc. I've found that as long as I'm somewhere with some humidity (i.e. not Colorado) I can make my hair retain what little bit of wave it has with either a handfull of curling mouse or some of that sea spray stuff that's supposed to replicate the beach look. The key to making it stay is use a lot, scrunch heavily then don't touch it.

I have curly/wavy hair. I love my diffuser. My only problem is keeping the nice wavy look I get with it. I find that it goes frizzy right away.
What are some good products?

I've used the Beach Blonde Stuff and the other blonde products, but they don't work.

to keep my curls.. I use Aussie Scrunch Spray. I spry it all over then scrunch my hair.. then with my diffuser on my dryer.. i dry my hair (only for 5-10 minutes).. while I'm drying I scrunch my hair int he same fashion as I would after putting the pray on. Then I either hair spray it or just go. My hair stays perfectly curly all day.. and to the next morning.

But.. Aussie Scrunch spray and a diffuser are the way to go. The Aussie spray is something like $3-5 and smells yummy (like grapes).
