EDIT!

AGDAlum,
I have a friend who is going back to school (at age 24) to get her 2nd bachelors and is interested in joining an NPC sorority. From your previous post, I guess she can't, since she can only be initiated as an alumna. Or could she COB and then explain her situation (that she is interested in being an active chapter member and that she will be around for a while.) Or did I misunderstand you? Is this an NPC rule, or does it vary by GLO? Sorry if I'm being confusing! Amanda Dyer Delta Gamma |

There's always Beta Sigma Phi!!
Beta Sigma Phi is a non-academic sorority with over 200,000 members! Founded in 1931, Beta has chapters in every US state, every Canadian province, and over 20 different countries! Membership in BSP is available to any woman, 18 or older. Please come stop by the Beta Sigma Phi forum if you're interested in learning more!!! |
If I'm not mistaken, I believe you can do this at Sigma Kappa b/c I've met at least on person who had a BA & later returned to school as an active not alumna to get a 2nd degree. Hope this helps!

Also, you might do a search on GC for threads about graduate students as collegiate/active members. There are a couple threads that I know of |
Now, it differs from sorority to sorority but some local sororities do initate grad students. I know that my sorority frequently initiated "non traditional" students in the past. :D

I'm pretty sure AXiD accepts graduate students as well.
|
I'm not sure if AOII does, but I know that graduate students can be active members if they want to be, most go to alumna status though. You may email chapters headquarters and ask questions about each house *use ariesrising's page if you need information*. There are a couple of houses that do not do alumna initiation, or it is under certain circumstances. With AOII you can still be heavily involved and you could ask the active chapter members if you could become an active member as a graduate student.

My sorority accepts members on both the undergrad and the graduate level.
The following sororities also accept graduate students as well: Alpha Kappa Alpha Delta Sigma Theta Sigma Gamma Rho |
My sorority accepts graduate students as part of our alumna initiation program.
|
alpha phi also accepts grad students as alumnae initiates. i'm one myself! :)

I thought the big deal was if a woman was registered as an undergrad or not...? I never thought it mattered if she already had an undergraduate degree already or not, so long as she was indeed an undergraduate student.
