CBS' Minority News Initiative
CBS said Wednesday it has created a program to recruit minority journalists, not only at the network but also at its owned-and-operated stations and affiliates. Every year, a producer and reporter will be picked. They'll work at CBS affiliates with what the network called a strong commitment to mentoring; by the end of the two-year program, the network said it hopes the candidates will join CBS News. The program will begin in January.
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...ion_cbsnews_dc I don't know how your affiliates are, but here in the NO, the CBS affiliate has many minorities are reporter/anchors (including my cousin). We even have a reporter who is of Asian decent. So, Channel 4 is probably ahead of the pact. :D |

This is an excellent program, as an aspiring/student journalist, This really excites me. Here in Gulfport, we have only one AA anchor, who does the weekend newscasts. FYI, the station her is where Robin Roberts originated from:) !
|
Yeah, because she and Sally-Ann are from the Gulfport/ Gulf Coast area...right? Even though they moved from place to place as a military family, that is...
|
Yes, they both Graduated From High Schools on the Gulf Coast. WLOX never misses the chance to boast about her (robin).
