What do you folks think about TV One?

Sorhors and friends,

What do you good folks think about TV One? I find it to be extremely lacking in quality TV shows. They don't even have news or commentary shows to talk about our issues. I believe, in fact, that it's just as boring as BET.

Hey it's just my opinion.

Hello Sistergreeks: I have watched TV One...and ya know, I really have not noticed a news show except TV OneAccess. I thought that was because I hadn't watched one whole day of TV One. But, that is a bit odd. This is not good if they are coming across as having better quality programming.

But, it is a good channel to hip the younger folk about Good Times..LOL

And I get to see 227 again!

I've got directv so I don't get TV One, but I don't even think that our cable provider shows TV one anyway! :(

Like BTB I have directv, so I don't get it, but I have seen it a few times. The Patti LaBelle show is cute, but it seems like it would get old. I've also seen the Sky Show, which was nice to watch. It was funny seeing New Edition huff and puff through a song trying to recreate those dance moves. LOL

I think the network has potential, we just need to give it time.

I have DISH, so I don't have it. I have seen it a few times, and I think the offerings are decent considering they are in the beginning stages. It's not like BET which is 20+ years in the game and still showing paid programming on Sundays. I agree with Eclipse; just give it a little time. I just hope they don't take five years to step up their game, especially in the news department.

I have cable but was not aware of this network. I'll see if its avalible through Comcast.

SeriousSigma22 08-06-2004 03:28 PM

Ninjapoodle and good folks in the Mid-West and Beyond,

They apparently are only providing this channel to those with Comcast cable and living on the east coast.

You really aren't missing much at all.

To answer the question, I REALLY like TV One. I am giving it time to grow, but one thing they do that I like is show a lot of those one-season-wonder shows that we may have watched, like City of Angels and Under One Roof.

If they bring back Equal Justice, I will be in love.

SeriousSigma22 08-07-2004 08:52 PM

Senusret I,

I don't remember the show "Equal Justice" please refresh my memory!

"Equal Justice" (1990)

Follows the loves and lives of a group of Pittsburgh D.A. staff focusing on Arnold Bach, the honest, but politically correct, by-the-book district attorney; Gene Rogan, the deputy D.A. and Chief of the Felony Bureau who competed with Bach for his job; Gene's supportive wife Jesse; Linda Bauer the head of the Sex Crimes Unit; Linda's younger brother, Peter, a local public defender; Michael James, the department's top prosecutor, as well as the eager young new attorneys, JoAnn, Briggs, Julie, and Christopher, determined to become a name for themselves in prosecuting any type of criminals.

FYI: I remembered more black people in this show, but I guess it was just Joe Morton and Vanessa Bell Calloway.

TV One is ok. I love 227, that's good. They have this ghetto fabulous dating game, Get the Hook Up, hosted by Russ Parr and this other lady (I CANNOT remember who she is lol). The one time I saw it, they had some OOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLLDDDDDDDDDDDD people on there. Its cool because they are average, around the block people, you'd see at the grocery store.

And those Sky Shows are a hot mess. The act a COMPLETE fool LOL. Tom and Jay try to keep up with the performers, looking their age. Tom SWORE he was a Whisper, and tried to keep up, but was sweating like a hog.

I'm on the east coast and I have Comcast, and I don't get TV1. Isn't this the channel that the Sky Show for Tom Joyner comes on?
