Weird question for people in the Chicago area
OK, don't think of me as weird for asking this but here it is:
Is WGN different for people who are actually in the Chicago area? I was in Chicago for Convention, and noticed WB ads on WGN. However, WGN comes with my cable package here, and it is most definitely NOT a WB channel. Maybe I'm just weird? |
The local WGN channel in Chicago is different than the WGN channel feature on cable, DishNetwork, etc. At the time I asked DishNetwork about this, I was told that they didn't have permission to air local programming channels. As of now if they want to have local channels of ABC, CBS, and NBC it's an additional price. It's not weird but I'm sure there are some legal issues that stem from it. I'm sure there are other local people who could explain it better than I can.
That's interesting that in WB ads are not featured I never noticed that before. |
So WGN the local channel isn't a WB? Still kind of confused.
|
Well WB and WGN are the same channel on regular tv. During the day its usually WGN and night programming is the WB until the news comes on. And on the weekends it usually WGN. Did that help?

mr. honeychile - the chicagoan - is here right now, and he says that WGN is the WB station in Chicagoland. What we who live outside the area get is the WGN Superstation, which is different.
Hope that helps. |
Ahhhh ok. So when non-Chicago people (who get WGN through cable or dish) are getting reruns on say, Monday at 7 pm Central, you are getting 7th Heaven. Thanks, cuz I was kind of confused. I get other channels from the US and they are the same (e.g. WPIX on my cable program is the same as WPIX in NYC)

Yes, WGN Superstation is different than WGN local. The superstation also shows movies and things during the day, and you don't see the syndicated talk shows that WGN local shows.
What is the same on both: the news (I LOVED being able to see the Chicago news when I was at school in Indiana) and some of the Cubs/Sox/Bulls games. That's about it though! |
