Lori Hacking- Missing Case

I really paid attention to this story last night. I was  when I learned the husband had lied about his education etc. etc.

This lady obviously trusted this man to marry him.
When does this madness end? Before ladies get involved seriously with someone does she now have to obtain a report that has investigated his past? What happened to being TOTALLY HONEST?

Yet, someone wanted to know why folks are not bragging about being in "love". Why brag? You might end up dead! (SMH) (Heaven forbid)

Has anyone been following this?

aopirose 08-03-2004 06:24 PM

I have been sort of following it. I felt that as soon as her husband was tagged as "a person of interest" that he was the prime suspect. When I was listening to the radio yesterday, I came into the middle of the late breaking news. Did I hear them correctly in that he was formally arrented after running around outside naked?

I do admit that i need to go back and read up on it. I didn't know about the faux education.

AKA_Monet 08-03-2004 06:25 PM

Hate to say it...

But the girl must have been "starry eyed" when she married him thinking that he was "all that"...

It is sad that he is a psycho... But that is when you have to background check with family... See if chit lines up. It takes a lot of gloss to cover us bullisht. So, if somebody wants to do the "Usual Suspects" style of foolin' a mofo... Then that mofo expects to be caught...

I dunno. I have been minorly duped when I was about 25ish... So I have a cynical attitude about the who thing...

To tell the truth, I am wondering the same thing that Michael Savage is wondering regarding this missing person's case and covering up the Sandy Berger case... But that's just me...

AKA2D '91 08-03-2004 06:27 PM

Soror,
The family was not informed either. They are now finding out that he was a LIAR. So, if she was "starry eyed" or not, his family could not have been help to her at all.

Then what?

btb87 08-03-2004 06:44 PM

Soror 2D,

I believe it is coming to the point that you have to run a background check, medical background check, credit check, etc. And talk to folks that have known your "intended" for a minute. A family friend, relative, etc.

Why the man had to lie about being accepted into med school, I dunno. But he obviously has some problems. I just wonder how long he had been thinking about harming his wife. I understand that Lori's persona (for lack of a better word right now) had been changing at work - she had been coming in to work quiet, kind of keeping to herself, sometimes crying and not really being able to talk with anyone. I wonder if (or rather WHEN) she had noticed changes in her husband, and I also wonder if something happened to cause this change in him or what? That's the thing about lying. . . it's like a domino effect - you tell a lie to cover a lie, then at some point you run out of lies. And he had probably run out of lies and felt like he had no other option. And. . . why would you think that someone wouldn't find out about your lyin' butt sooner or later? But one thing about Lori's family - they really stood by him in all of this, even when everyone else thought he had something to do with her disappearance.

AKA2D '91 08-03-2004 06:47 PM

Med School? Shucks....

He lied about having an UG degree, also!

If the parents thought he had graduated from UG school, why wouldn't his wife? The family was in the dark too, so I'm sure his "friends" were as well. It seems like it's a no win situation.

Now I see where Scott Peterson studied the San Francisco Bay's currents before his wife turned up "missing". I wonder if Hacking kept up with this case?

end hijack

Mark Hacking seems to me like Scotty Peterson Jr., as it were. Both these guys, if they did it, are utter idiots. If you don't want to be married, get a divorce. Don't kill your wives and future babypeople.

AKA_Monet 08-03-2004 07:38 PM

Lemme put it to you all like dis...

2 + 2 = 4

Nunna dat integrative, "string theory", differential, real variable calculus...

'Cuz if 2 + 2 does not = FO'...

Then a mofo gots to cut... And GTFO on outta dere...

Gwirlfriend was jus stoopid... I'm sad for her. I hope they find her... But homey was not addin' up to FO' to begin wit...

And I ain't talkin' bout her family... I'm talkin' bout his. His mama... His daddy... If he ain't got one, then I'm talkin' bout his Grandmamma--somebody that changed his dayum diapers... Dayum, his parole officer or foster family--somebody that knows the mofo and vouch for his ass...

Cuz you don't be lying that you went to Duke Med School... That's just stupid... You just don't lie like dat and ain't hooked up at the top Hospital--what University of Utah's... That's about the best you can get in Salt Lake... Believe me... Unless he was talkin' military... And you just don't lie like dat when you want to have a pension in the military...

I really haven't followed it much because it hasn't been all up in your face like the Laci Peterson case. I wish that it was more visible. I have been hearing bits and pieces of it, but only recently have I been trying to keep up. It's sad that these men are lying like this. Then when they get busted or get fed up and ready to move on the next woman, they want to kill. The ULTIMATE sad thing is that they are killing their unborn children also. I am so sick on hearing about men killing their wives/girlfriends and children.

Munchkin03 08-03-2004 08:25 PM

Saddened, but not surprised. I am surprised, however, that he wasn't a suspect from jump.

Oh, and he decided to commit himself after he was running around a hotel w/ nothing but sandals. The fact that he checked himself into a hotel after his wife went missing is S-K-E-T-C-H.

And HOW is your family not going to know that you didn't graduate from college?

The article I read said that he was always "studying", had open books lying around the apartment, going to class, writing papers, etc. A few days before his "graduation" he got really sick and so, poor thing, he was not able to actually participate in the graduation ceremony. He did however, according to the paper, pose in his cap and gown for pictures.

He even went to NC with his wife to look for apartments for them to stay in while he was in Med School! The same article said he talked about MCAT scores, which schools he should apply to, etc. NO ONE had any reason not to believe him. Evidently his story was adding up.

It really is a sad story.

I really cannot understand how someone can view a spouse a disposable. He threw her body in the trash bin. If you are that unhappy in your marriage, get a divorce. These stories frighten me so much. You never know what people are capable of. Rest in peace, Lori. My prayers are with her and her family.

It's not that hard. One semester at my community college, we had a parent come in because they had just found out (at the end of the semester) that their daughter had not attended college at all that semester. She had taken the money they gave her to pay her tuition and books (close to $1,000) and done who-knows-what with it. And now we can't give out ANY information about students without their permission, even if mom and dad are paying tuition, and even if the students are under 18.

As far as graduating, some people just want the sheepskin and don't really care about the ceremony. Maybe they thought he misplaced his diploma or something (like I did!).
