Over Programing question
I work for the school I attend as a student assistant. I am trying to do some research about over programing. If you have any answers to the following questions, please let me know.
Do you think over programing is a problem at your school? What is over programing? What do you think could be done about it? Thanks, Tassie |

What is over programing? What do you think could be done about it? Over programing is a problem at the University of Florida with over 50 greek organizations, hundreds of student organizations, and the demands of school most greeks have to pick and choose between event conflicts. Over programing is Formal Chapter from 6-10 Monday night. Intramural flag football game 6 pm on Tuesday followed by a social. Wednesday is a Panhellenic Meeting and then manditory sorority study hours. Thursday involves dance practice before Friday nights philanthropy event. Friday (more practice, then XYZ's philanthropy lasting from 7-11pm. Saturday BBQ with fraternity, then football game. Sunday evening helping out with new member education meeting followed by a sisterhood event. We have tried many different approaches to combatting overprogramming. Combining events, making less things manditory, and having certain groups in the chapter responsible for different events has helped a little. While it is wonderful to have a different event on your calendar every day of the week, it can be overwhelming, and students need guidance in order to know when to say when. |

everyone needs a few free days. i love greek life but if i had an event every night of the week it'd wear me out, especially since i had/have a lot of non-greek friends as well. |
