How long to Beta

Someone mentioned earlier that they have been trying to join Beta for 2 years! Can someone pm me and tell me if this is a normal time lapse to find a chapter that wants you? Thanks!

:)

I'm still pretty new to Beta, but I have followed some other PNMs stories here on GC (I even read through older posts!). It took me 4 months from emailing Int'l through being given my bid. I think it all comes down to timing.

Since fall rush is coming up, you are in really good shape to be contacted soon, IMO. Especially in the Dallas area, there are SO many chapters, even at the ROJ level. Beginning Day is right around the corner, and most chapters begin to rush on that day, or in September.

I am so excited for you and for all the PNMs looking to find a chapter!! :D :)

Oh, crap. This was supposed to be a response to RedHot's post. BetaRose can you combine our two threads?

Thanks!!

Re: How long to Beta

I was approached by 3 chapters within about 2 months. I sent my stuff to international and then they sent it to the City Council of the area that you are in.

Also it might be hard to find a match if you are trying to find the "perfect" chapter

With me it was finding a chapter closest to my age. Let's put it this way...in the Beta chapters in my area, I am the youngest woman..and I am 37!

Hope this helps

It was about a month from the time I contacted International until I had a bid in hand. One of the Gainesville chapters was organizing a FV, and I happened to contact them right before they got started, so it was just a matter of good timing. However, its been almost a year since I began looking for a chapter to transfer into once I moved, and I haven't had much luck. So I've given up on finding one, and decided to friendly venture!

I posted my information to Nationals back in April. I didn't hear back from any chapters until I left a message in the Beta Journal guestbook this past summer-- a couple of somewhat local (minimum has been 60 miles away so far) chapters have contacted me, but were either done for the traditional year or were just about to wrap up..

I'm going to drop them a line in about three weeks once it starts getting closer to the "school year" again. :)

I think I might have said at one time that I had been a PLEDGE for almost 2 years... But I was in contact with several chapters within 2 months of getting my info to nationals (both initially in MD and after my move to VA). I became a pledge in MD, never received pledge training, moved to VA, had to get with a new chapter, and FINALLY got my ROJ degree.
