Rho Gamma (Rho Chi, Pi Rho Chi, etc) Preperation
Hello!!
This fall, I'm going to be a Rho Gamma and I was wondering what type of things I should carry with me. I've heard to carry breath mints, clear nail polish, and safety pins, but I'd love any more suggestions! Thanks!:D |
Magazines!!!! gives them something to do if they have to wait at any time. Tampons, cause you just never know. You might want to have sugar free mints too, in case there are girls that can't have sugar, due to a medical thing....you just never know. Bandaids (or maybe just a small medical kit---i think you can get them a t a drugstore). Just think of what you might want to have, if you were going through Recruitment again?
Being a Recruitment Counselor was one of the best experiences I've ever had. Cherish the memories, and take a camera for goodness sake. I wish that I'd had mine with me last summer when I was a Gamma Chi. Enjoy the experience! It's sure to be eye-opening. Good Luck! |
I say definitely take a camera b/c I've heard so many awesome things that people did & people they met & they wish they had pics. I always wanted to be a Rho Gamma but I joined as a junior & am now a senior so there won't be a chance for me. Oh Well. I'm also sad b/c 5 or 6 of my house gals are Rho Gamma's so I can't talk & hang out until after formal recruitment. Rats!

You might want to bring a small compact mirror for them to use between rounds. Also, nice-smelling hand lotion could be good. An umbrella might also be helpful if someone forgets one on a rainy day.
You'll have a fabulous time being a Rho Gamma :) And the reunion with your sisters will be even better! |
Oh I loved being a Rho Chi. It was such a great experience.
Make sure you have a comfortable backpack to carry all this stuff in. And don't forget to carry a few things for yourself too - definitely bring a water bottle and some small snacks. (you'll end up sharing both.) Also sunscreen. If events go late into the evening, bring an extra layer to keep you warm. For the PNMs, definitely bring tissues (not just for crying, but for allergies, sweating, etc.) :) Also, advil or tylenol, bobbi pins, hair ties and a small mirror/compact. Breath mints are good, but those little listerine strips that dissolve in your mouth are fabulous. |
Baby wipes and a small bottle of peroxide are good to have too. Baby wipes will get out most stains. The peroxide is from a personal experience, I cut myself somehow during recruitment and got blood on my outfit, luckily my pi chi had peroxide in her first aid kit and it got it right out.

I am a Rho Chi this year too! Our Rho Chi retreat is Friday and then pre-recruitment starts. I am so excited.

Shout wipes! They come in a small box and are wrapped individually. They work like a charm.

ask your girls at orienation if there's anything they'd definately want. my girls asked for starbursts and skittles. . .as everyone else said mints are key, as are the mint strip thingies. as a pi chi, i had the best time, it's soooooooooooo much fun. . .you're gonna have a great time!!!

I don't know what time you will have to be out... or even if you are outside, but something that I was so grateful for was a flashlight. We had to be outside of the house until it was way past dark and we used to flashlight to walk people to their cars, show the the PM's the stairs or to collect nametags at the end of the night. Also, have folding chairs, a sweater and a cell phone just in case. And, something fun and quiet to do in your waiting time for sure.
Good luck! I am so excited for you... you are going to have so fun. |
Rho Chi
Hey! I'm gonna be a Rho Chi this semester too. Past Rho Chi's have suggested bringing mints, tampons, headache medicine, mirrors, pads, deodorant, concealer, brush, hair ties, umbrella, mouthwash, and some various other items. Good Luck in Recruitment!

Ditto on the flashlight suggestion if you're going to be out in the dark, or even if it's rains. They have some small ones that can clip to a keyring or beltloop. I got a nasty injury during rush the year I was PH recruitment chair, and it would never have happened if I had a flashlight!
Have fun! |
