First of all, you must have them located on your web page space or any other location on the web. NOTE: Be aware that some sites (such as those hosted by Geocities) prohibit linking photos remotely to other sites.

Next, you'll need to use the "img" UBB Code. Place the URL where the photo is located on the Web in between the [ img ] brackets, like this:

[ img ]http://www.pikes.org/preamble.jpg[ /img ]

Note that I deliberately put spaces in the UBB code so that it doesn't activate. The actual result should look like this:

http://www.pikes.org/preamble.jpg

The preamble of Pi Kappa Alpha.

Try not to post very large photographs, as they suck internet bandwidth, both on the original site and on the receiving end.

Hope this helps.

This should be stickied or a FAQ!

I think the fact that if you scroll over the various buttons for making a post and the button "IMG" states "Insert an image into your message" and when you press the "IMG" button a script prompt comes up saying "Enter the text to be formated: [ IMG]xxx[/IMG ]" and even starts you off with http:// ... means that if stickied it should be placed in the "PHP for Dummies" thread.

IowaStatePhiPsi, actually whenever you click reply or create new thread under the message box you type into there's this (in small text):

Forum Rules:
You may post new threads
You may post replies
You may not post attachments
You may edit your posts HTML code is OFF
vB code is ON
Smilies are ON
[IMG] code is ON
.

If you click on those links it tells you how to do funky stuff like images.

I thought AlphaSig's post was v. useful actually IowaStatePhiPsi, as it mentioned remote linking. People don't always know they need to have the inage hosted somewhere like a non-free webspace or an image host like photobucket.com
