Fighting racism... literally
 

Normally I don't condone violence (i've seen too much) but this weekend I have to admit I did enjoy getting in a fight... and for admittedly a "noble" cause.

I was with some old army buddies at the Legion (veteran's club) and we staid a little past closing to help close-up the place and help move some heavier stuff around... anyways while we were doing this one of the vets went out for a coffee across the street. We had noticed that he had been gone longer than we thought he should have taken... so we went out to go check on him. Turns out he was being attacked by three little skinheads that were throwing insults such as "terrorists", "sand n*g*er", "rag head" and other such lovely hateful crap... the vet happened to be a Sikh. While the were hurling the insults they were whipping him with a length of chain and poking him with a bat...

Nothing is lower than someone who assaults the edlerly, and in this case a veteran and someone who couldn't even yell for help because of a damaged throat. Needless to say we stepped in and laid down a beating.. of course we took some hits too (I'm having some trouble typing). They were sterotypical skinheads, tough guys when picking on someone who can't effectively fight back, but cowards when confronted by force... wearing the standard military gear (German, Marines or Airborne), and puncuating their attack with the same tripe (Canada for whites, U-S-A, white power)... What galls me though is that these little sh*ts were 15 and 16 years and as a result will not face the punishment they should... and these little f*cks have had their minds posioned by someone or somewhere that will go on spreading the filth.

So what happened afterwards?? What happened to the kids? Your friend?? Do you have plans to do something about this?

I firmly believe that White supremacy is imbedded into the fabric U.S.A. It's not something specific to skinheads or klansmen or "those people". It's everywhere, even in the language used on GC...

That Canadian skinheads would chant "U-S-A" is pretty damned shocking to me.

Well afterwards we sat on the kids waiting for the cops and gave first aid to the veteran and those of us with some damage. The cops were very happy to get their hands on these guys.. they were possibly the same ones that had vandalized a couple of war memorials in the area (a Polish one and a Jewish one)... I'm supposed to go to youth court next week. Luckily no one other than the skinheads suffered any damage other than scapes and bruising (one kid... the one with the chain... has a broken arm - :) ).

ktsnake> as for their chants of U-S-A... its actually pretty typical for skinheads or other racists to identify in some way with the US, as either their "spiritual" fatherland or as an example of the way things should be... unfortunately their images are skewed by movies and media, and their perception of the reality of relations in the US are way off. It's kinda the same way skinheads like to "associate" with the military... their perceptions as opposed to reality aren't even close... no one ever said these guys are known for their education or intelligence.

Oh as for jusitifiable homicide... don't really know, our homicide laws are very complex. However since the skinheads had weapons and were a threat to others as well as ourselves, we were justified in using "appropriate" force to disarm them or neutralize the threat... again :)

Maybe those kids should attend some sort of educational institution so they'd learn not just how to behave, but to become a little more, ummmm...cultured (by exposing them to other societies, I guess). Maybe a "finishing school" for young offenders?

this makes me so mad.............i have many Indian friends and they were yelled at, insulted or attacked because people cant tell the difference between a sikh, punjabi, hindu and a muslim.... they think we all look alike. my mom told me not to tell people where I am from and took down the flag I used to have hanging on the review mirror of my car. you know the little mini ones??

It happened a few times in Oklahoma as well. A Pakistani man was beaten to death only a few blocks from our chapter's house around 9/11. Very sad stuff.

Well I spent the day at work trying to come up with a proposal that could be handed to the judge... something meaningful that would not amount to a simple slap on the wrist for these kids...

So the suggestion that has been reached involves a request that the three kids serve some time in community service, cleaning or repairing their vanadalism and gorunds maintainance around some other neglected memorials... further some community service would entail them to spend time at the Legion helping the veterans as well as "lessons and essays" from some veterans (Canadian, American, and in one case an ex-SS veteran too). Hopefully this combination of punishment and education may set at least one of them right.

Way to go. It's sickening that in this day and age people are still so ignorant. It makes me wonder if we've really made any progress at all.

Last night I discovered a huge terrorist cell downtown. I busted it up and gave the judge a sentence to hand down the next day.
