Convention summary!
Well, I'm back- first of all I just want to say how much I love seeing sisters that I've made friends with at conventions, especially when we are near the beach! I also wish that the 50+ year members (6 of which were in attendance) could travel to every single chapter. If they could, I don't think we'd have ANY problems with spirit or commitment. :)
The slate was passed as nominated (see the Zeta Theta link at the top of the forum, I'm too lazy to retype). We voted to change the officer structure and the VP of expansion is now the "senior vice president." The VPs of collegians, alumnae & program have been changed to 3 VPs of membership - each will be focused on a different group of districts. I went to a workshop on expansion/extension and it was AWESOME - such a good dialogue and something that I don't think a lot of chapters/sisters talk about. I wish everyone here could have participated, especially with some of the expansion discussions we've had on GC! "Integrity" was added to our list of core values and we also passed a resolution affirming that we do not discriminate by sexual orientation during recruitment. And for the big news....our next convention will be in... NEW ORLEANS!!!!!!!!!!!! I am REALLY REALLY REALLY excited about this (if you couldn't tell) as I love NO and I would LOVE for all my fellow GCers to be there too!!! |
OM G !!!!!!!! I will come and find you and drag your tail to Drago's for some charbroiled oysters!
Oh yeah, the other stuff sounded neat too. ;) |
I was just getting ready to email you and ask if you'd seen this! I want it to be in two weeks instead of two years!!! :D

More convention stuff - awards
I kept forgetting to post the "big" award winners here...
Zeta Eta (Rockhurst) won Crown of Excellence. The Ideal New Member was from Nu Nu (Drexel). The Elizabeth Bird Small and Frost Fidelity winners are both from Austin Peay. |
Yay!!!! I will definitely be there! So excited too bad its not during Mardi Gras!
|
So, anyone heard anything about a change of venue due to Katrina? Or are we still on for NO?
|
As far as I know, we are still on for NO. The city cancelled all conventions up to I believe March, anything later than that is at the discretion of the planners.
And I want it to be in 9 days instead of 9 months. :) |
Convention update
We have changed our venue to the Hyatt in Cambridge, MA because apparently the Hyatt in NOLA will be renovating throughout 2006.
I am VERY bummed about this for several reasons, but at least we will be near lots of colleges and hopefully cute preppy men. |
