PETA allowed to have make-out sessions in Idaho
 

BOISE (AP) - A scantily clad couple is free to canoodle on a downtown sidewalk as long as they're making a political statement, a city spokesman said.

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals will be in Boise on Friday staging a "Live Make-Out Tour" to promote vegetarian eating, PETA spokesman Ravi Chand said.


The event - in which a couple will make out in a bed set up on a city sidewalk - is meant to demonstrate PETA's claims that vegetarians are better lovers, Chand said. Additional activists will pass out information about the health benefits of vegan living.

Though both the city and the state have public indecency laws, Zuzel said, but he did not believe the demonstration would violate them. Besides, he said, political events are given more leeway in the rules.

An interesting thing, is that Boise has a repuation for being a satellite of Salt Lake City, and the very conservative values of that majority religion influence both the city and the state. I have been told that there are no nudie bars allowed in Idaho, but woman can dance in "Bikini Bars". The liquor is also sold in state stores, but not on Sundays. Beer however is available in supermarkets.

Now I want to eat some potatoes...mmm french fries.

PETA could be a very useful organization if they used their talents and money for good uses. what they do is disgusting and useless.

I completely agree. If they weren't so militant in their tactics, they'd have wider respect. Even though I'm very committed to animal rights, I just don't see myself associating w/ a group like that. If they were more accepting of others' decisions and less prone to extremism then they'd be more successful.
