Why did you ever START smoking?
I've been reading the "Who smokes" thread and thought I'd ask this- We all grew up knowing it was a bad habit so:
Why did any of you ever start? Just curious!:p |
Probably rebellion:
Especially when you have the mother saying "I don't want you smoking" while she is pointing her Marlboro at you! :p I quit 7 years ago tho |
In honestly it was because of my weight problem.
I'm an emotional eater and to me it was better then putting a chocolate bar in my mouth. Yeah, I know stupid logic, but that's why. |
Because I wanted to. Simple as that.

I've always been a social smoker. I started smoking in 6th grade before school because it was what everyone did. There was a gas station w/in walking distance of our middle school & they sold us cigarettes. Before school we'd sneak down to the gas station, buy Marlboro Reds, hang out & smoke them there. I quit when I went to high school but I started again in college. I'd usually only smoke when I went out to bars/clubs/pubs/etc. or if I was really really really super stressed. When I started to notice that I was smoking a lot more often I quit.

I started because I was dating a guy who smoked (as did his whole family) and it just kinda happened. I found it curbed my appetite, too and I started losing a little weight. So, I figured there was a bonus to smoking. I quit for 8 months when I was first diagnosed with Crohn's Disease but have since started again and I'm finding it twice as hard to kick the habit this time around. I really do need to stop, though.

Because a girl i was dating smoked, so i did it with her. Then i kept doin it to cut back on drinking...Im somewhat trying to quit now...

Because I was dating some one who really got on my nerves!
Oh, it was a Woman. Go figure!:) |
It started off with just having one with a friend every so often. Then I met this guy last year and he was always smoking, and got me hooked. I would buy a pack about every other day. But that was for only about 3 months. I stopped smoking all together in early Jan of this year. I had a stupid attack and had a cigarette one day when I found out my parents were seperated a few months ago. It feels good knowing that you don't smoke anymore.
