recs question

i noticed in another thread that some NPC groups accept recommendations from collegiate sisters, as long as they're not from the campus they're writing them for.
do we do this? just curious because I have a friend going through at another school with ADPi.... thanks...

ASUADPi 07-24-2004 10:18 AM

Yes we do.

But we can't write them if the PNM is going to the same campus and rushing where we are an active member. Does that make sense?

So you could write your friend a letter of rec b/c she is going to a different campus.

Hope your friend has a great time going through recruitment. You should try to convince her to start a rush thread at the time, then we will all have another one to become addicted too. :)

Bri

P.S. is anyone else going through serious withdrawal when it comes to rush threads? LOL.

YAY! Good luck to your friend!

If you haven't already started recieving the Adelphean, there's a form in there to "introduce" the pnm to the other chapter.. I think it's on PO as well... anyway, if you haven't started recieving them yet, I can give the copy later on.

Where is your friend going to college? If it's a Southern school, she would do well to have an alumna write a rec for her, also.

I had no idea that getting into a sororitywas so difficult in the South. I go to school in Macon, GA at Mercer, and we're a really small campus so not as many people go through. I guess i feel fortunate!

Mizzou.. not terribly sure how competitive their rush is.

and Bri, i think she will.. she's already joined GC and been poking around!

ASUADPi 07-26-2004 09:32 AM

From what I have read on other forums Mizzou's rush is extremely competitive (at least that is how it sounds), but if I remember correctly our chapter there closed a couple years back.

FirstAndFinest 07-26-2004 10:38 AM

I got *very* confused reading this, until I realized we weren't using correct terminology! Instead of "active" the original question should have had the word "Delta"! I may be an alumna, but I am as ACTIVE as ever!! (which is part of the reason for the terminology change...)

I'll get off my soapbox now.

Oh, YES, the necessary forms are indeed located on PO.

The form to recommend a prospective member to a chapter can be found on the ADPi website - go to Pride OnLine (log in w/ your member number & password) go to resources & there's a section for downloading forms. I have one saved on my computer and would be happy to email it to anyone that needs it if they pm me.

As stated before...a current collegiate member can recommend a potential member to any other ADPi chapter, just not her own. An alumna can recommend a potential member to any ADPi chapter including her own. (I think this is pretty standard across all NPC groups - at least the ones I am more familiar with have the same "policy".)

sorry, i'll change it, i promise. whatever was i thinking?!;)
(i think i wrote active because i was refering to other groups, not our own, when i wrote it, now that i think about it...)

and alas... if only i was cool enough to be able to acces PO, but no, my member number is not in the database. le sigh.

Sometimes it is really difficult to speak NPC vs ADPi!
;)

If I can help you get a NM Profile from PO, lemme know!

Okay I might sound like a total blonde here but I'm kind of confused, is Mizzou the same as Ole Miss? Or is Mizzou supposed to be Univ. of Southern Mississippi? I ask because the latter is the only chapter I see that we have open the other two closed in 1988 and 1997.

Again, sorry to sound like a blonde. :)

Sweetie, Mizzou is what many call the University of Missouri, Columbia campus (our Alpha Gamma chapter) :)

Our Alpha Gamma chapter has over 200 members. If you can't find the right address -- forward me the rec. as I am in the province and am in contact with the recruitment advisor there regularly. Do it soon though -- their FR is in August and it may even be mid August.
